Job summary

ENGIE Middle East in Abu Dhabi seeks a Project Controls Manager for our on-site team to manage EPC contractor performance, schedule development and tracking, and routine reporting to stakeholders. You will drive planning, progress monitoring and risk management in a complex power/industrial project.

Role requires extensive engineering background, Primavera/MS Project proficiency, and strong communication to coordinate with construction and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering.
• 10+ years construction experience in a power plant or complex industrial plant.
• Strong planning and communication, negotiation and coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Primavera and MS Project.
• Experience with EDMS and project reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Review, track and update EPC Contractor schedules and progress.
• Prepare and track project baseline, KPIs and reporting.
• Ensure schedules reflect progress and deviations for mitigation.
• Lead weekly planning meetings with EPC Contractor.
• Develop recovery schedules and mitigation strategies when needed.
• Prepare management reports and stakeholder presentations.
• Maintain project risk registers and action ownership in planning.
• Assess supplier/contractor payments with Construction Team input.
• Develop internal project control processes and PROCORE integration.

Job description

We are looking for a Project Controls Manager for our on-site team in Abu Dhabi. This role is a key contributor, tasked with managing the performance of the EPC Contractor and driving the overall success of the project. The role principally involves the development and tracking of project scheduling and progress tracking tools and producing routine reports to key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead responsibility for reviewing, tracking and updating EPC Contractor’s schedule incorporating all significant design, consenting, coordination, supply, erection, interface, fuel supply, commissioning and testing activities.
• Work with EPC Contractor, ENGIE TPM(E) and other resources to prepare and track Project Baseline schedule, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and associated reporting.
• Ensure project schedules are routinely updated to reflect accurate current project progress and deviations from baseline are highlighted for mitigation by EPC Contractor.
• Proactively monitor project progress using available tools, including S-Curves, look-ahead schedules, etc. to highlight potential impacts to critical path and progress against early/late project progress curve.
• Lead weekly planning meetings with EPC Contractor to be fully aware of progress and potential schedule issues for resolution.
• Working with Construction Director and other Construction Team members, support EPC Contractor to develop recovery schedule and mitigation strategies where necessary.
• Prepare management, shareholder, lender, insurer reports and presentations in collaboration with the Construction Director.
• Support the development, review and updating of project risk registers, taking ownership of actions related to project planning and reporting
• Assessment and evaluation on supplier and contractor payments with input from the Construction Team
• Developing internal project control processes and systems (such as document management and retrieval systems) in line with good industry practice.
• Support of the engineering integration and coordination as well as implementation.
• Support development of Procore Project Management system and integration into project reporting systems
• Finding and coordinating technical issues determine solutions with the support of the engineering/technical team during engineering and implementation phases.

Qualifications and Experience

• University degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Thorough proven experience of project scheduling theory, practice and techniques.
• Minimum 10 years construction experience in a power plant or complex industrial process plant.
• Strong planning and interpersonal skills, excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills.
• Total familiarity and ability to use all features of Primavera and Microsoft Project, project planning software.
• Total familiarity and ability to use a range of software packages including the complete MS Office suite, PowerBI and industry-standard EDMS.

Language

• Fluent in written and spoken English.

• Based in Abu Dhabi, UAE - full-time site based
• Flexibility to travel throughout the region if required
