ENGIE Middle East is seeking a Project Planning & Controls Manager to oversee scheduling, progress tracking, and reporting for a major EPC project at site in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The role requires a Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Eng degree, 10+ years of construction planning, proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project, PowerBI and EDMS, and fluent English. Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Thorough proven experience of project scheduling theory, practice and techniques.
  • Minimum 10 years construction experience in thermal power plant or complex industrial process plant.
  • Strong planning and interpersonal skills, excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills.
  • Total familiarity and ability to use all features of Primavera and Microsoft Project, project planning software.
  • Total familiarity and ability to use a range of software packages including the complete MS Office suite, PowerBI and industry-standard EDMS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead responsibility for reviewing, tracking and updating EPC Contractor’s schedule incorporating all significant design, consenting, coordination, supply, erection, interface, fuel supply, commissioning and testing activities.
  • Prepare and track Project Baseline schedule, KPI’s and associated reporting with EPC Contractor and ENGIE TPM(E).
  • Ensure project schedules are updated to reflect progress and highlight deviations for mitigation.
  • Use tools like S-Curves and look-ahead schedules to monitor progress and critical path.
  • Lead weekly planning meetings with EPC Contractor for issue resolution.
  • Support development of recovery schedule and mitigation strategies with Construction Team.
  • Prepare management, shareholder, lender, insurer reports and presentations.
  • Develop project risk registers and project reporting processes.
  • Assist in payments assessment with input from Construction Team.
  • Support engineering integration and Procore Project Management implementation.

Purpose of the Job:

The Project Planning & Controls Manager is a key contributor to successfully managing the performance of the EPC Contractor and ultimately the success of the project. The role principally involves the development and tracking of project scheduling and progress tracking tools and producing routine reports to key stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead responsibility for reviewing, tracking and updating EPC Contractor’s schedule incorporating all significant design, consenting, coordination, supply, erection, interface, fuel supply, commissioning and testing activities.
  • Work with EPC Contractor, ENGIE TPM(E) and other resources to prepare and track Project Baseline schedule, Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and associated reporting.
  • Ensure project schedules are routinely updated to reflect accurate current project progress and deviations from baseline are highlighted for mitigation by EPC Contractor.
  • Proactively monitor project progress using available tools, including S-Curves, look-ahead schedules, etc. to highlight potential impacts to critical path and progress against early/late project progress curve.
  • Lead weekly planning meetings with EPC Contractor to be fully aware of progress and potential schedule issues for resolution.
  • Working with Construction Director and other Construction Team members, support EPC Contractor to develop recovery schedule and mitigation strategies where necessary.
  • Prepare management, shareholder, lender, insurer reports and presentations in collaboration with the Construction Director.
  • Support the development, review and updating of project risk registers, taking ownership of actions related to project planning and reporting
  • Assessment and evaluation on supplier and contractor payments with input from the Construction Team
  • Developing internal project control processes and systems (such as document management and retrieval systems) in line with good industry practice.
  • Support of the engineering integration and coordination as well as implementation.
  • Support development of Procore Project Management system and integration into project reporting systems
  • Finding and coordinating technical issues determine solutions with the support of the engineering/technical team during engineering and implementation phases.
