Job summary

UniqPay in Dubai seeks a Product Owner to own the roadmap for acquiring, payouts, FX and risk. You decide what gets built, in what order, and you are the voice of the merchant, the acquirer, and the regulator inside engineering.

You will collaborate with Compliance, Operations and Sales to translate regulatory obligations into a prioritised backlog and write precise specifications for engineers. You own sprint scope, acceptance and delivery across international markets.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years in product ownership or management, with ≥2 years shipping payments/fintech for international markets.
• Vertical knowledge of regulated fintech merchants and settlement dynamics.
• Regulatory fluency across licensing, KYC/KYB, AML, data residency and card schemes.
• Hands-on ownership of an agile backlog: writing stories, running ceremonies, and sprint accountability.
• Technical depth: ability to work with engineers on API-driven products and integrations.
• Strong judgement and prioritisation to explain decisions to founders, compliance and engineers.
• Bachelor degree in Business/CS/Finance; CSPO/PSPO or equivalent is a plus.

About The Role

We are looking for a Product Owner to own the product roadmap and backlog for the UniqPay platform: acquiring, payouts, currency conversion, and risk. You decide what gets built, in what order, and why. You are the voice of the merchant, the acquirer, and the regulator inside our engineering process, and the single owner of scope and acceptance for every sprint. As Product Owner you sit between Engineering, Compliance, Operations, and Sales. You turn merchant demand, partner constraints, and regulatory obligations into a single prioritised roadmap, write the specifications that engineers build from, and carry what you learn at launch back into the next release. Because our merchants are in regulated industries operating across many countries, prior hands‑on product experience in these verticals across international markets is mandatory, not preferred.

What You Will Do

• Own the roadmap: Maintain the product roadmap for acquiring, payouts, FX, and risk, balancing merchant demand, commercial priority, technical debt, and regulatory obligation.
• Run the backlog: Write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria that cover payment edge cases: declines, retries, cascading, chargebacks, partial settlements, and FX.
• Ship every sprint: Lead sprint planning, refinement, and review; act as the single decision maker on scope and acceptance; track delivery and make trade offs early.
• Design for the regulator: Turn licensing conditions, KYC and KYB rules, AML monitoring, data residency, and scheme requirements into product requirements for each jurisdiction, and re-scope the backlog when the rules change.
• Know the verticals: Run structured discovery with regulated merchants and with acquiring and banking partners, and build market by market knowledge of local payment methods and settlement rails.
• Own the integrations: Lead the product side of PSP, acquirer, and merchant integrations: API specifications, timelines, and channel configuration.
• Measure what matters: Define and track approval rates, latency, settlement accuracy, onboarding time to live, and merchant retention, and use them to steer prioritisation.
• Close the loop: Run launch readiness and post launch and post incident reviews, and convert every lesson into a backlog item or a process change.

Who You Are

• Experience: 4 to 6 years in product ownership or product management, including at least 2 years shipping payments or fintech products for iGaming, Crypto, or FX merchants across international markets. This is a hard requirement.
• Vertical knowledge: You understand how these merchants make money and lose it: cascading and approval rates, on and off ramp flows and settlement and margin dynamics in specific regulated industries.
• Regulatory fluency: Direct experience applying licensing, KYC and KYB, AML, data residency, and card scheme rules in product design across more than one jurisdiction.
• Delivery discipline: Hands on ownership of an agile backlog: writing stories, running ceremonies, and being accountable for sprint outcomes.
• Technical depth: Comfortable working with engineers on API driven products and third party integrations, and able to read a sequence diagram or an API log without help.
• Judgement: You say no clearly and often, and can explain a prioritisation call to a founder, a compliance officer, and an engineer in the same meeting.
• Education: A bachelor degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field preferred. CSPO, PSPO, or equivalent is a plus.

Bonus points if

• You have sat across the table from a regulator, an auditor, or a card scheme during a licence application, audit, or review.
• You have launched a product into a new country or corridor and dealt with the local payment methods and rules that came with it.
• You have built the product function at an early stage company where the process did not exist yet.

The Product Owner seat is the proving ground for the Product Manager role. Show that you can run the roadmap, keep the platform compliant across markets, and think a level up, and the path to leading the wider product function is direct.
