Job summary

Confidential Careers is seeking a Purchaser to support the procurement of permanent construction materials for UAE building projects. The role involves reviewing technical material requirements, coordinating with suppliers and project teams, and managing purchasing from enquiry through to delivery.

The ideal candidate will have a technical background in Civil/Construction disciplines, 5–10 years of purchasing experience in the building industry, and proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, iTWO

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant technical discipline (Civil, Construction, Quantity Surveying or SCM).
• 5–10 years of purchasing experience within building construction.
• Experience with a main contractor in UAE or GCC preferred.
• Proven experience purchasing permanent construction materials for building projects.
• Knowledge of structural, architectural and finishing materials.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, BOQs and submittals.
• Experience in RFQ prep, supplier quotation comparisons, technical assessments and PO processing.
• Familiarity with UAE construction material suppliers and manufacturers.
• Strong negotiation, coordination and follow-up skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and procurement/ERP systems (SAP, iTWO, Oracle or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of permanent construction materials in line with project requirements and schedules.
• Review requisitions, drawings, specifications, BOQs and submittals to establish purchasing requirements.
• Prepare RFQs, obtain supplier quotations and evaluate offers based on technical compliance, pricing and delivery conditions.
• Conduct preliminary technical assessments of proposed materials and identify deviations from project specifications.
• Prepare quotation comparisons, purchasing recommendations and purchase orders.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
• Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, Logistics and project teams on material approvals and delivery requirements.
• Follow up on purchase orders, monitor delivery schedules and resolve supply-related issues.
• Maintain purchasing records, supplier information and material tracking reports.
• Identify alternative suppliers and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining technical and quality requirements.

The position is of a Purchaser to support the procurement of permanent construction materials for our building projects in the UAE. The position involves reviewing technical material requirements, coordinating with suppliers and project teams, and managing purchasing activities from enquiry through to delivery. A good understanding of construction materials, drawings and specifications is essential, as the position requires both technical assessment and commercial purchasing skills.
