Job summary

WSP in the Middle East invites applications for a Principal Engineer - Water to lead design and delivery of large-scale water projects across the UAE, including potable water, stormwater, and wastewater systems. This senior role requires extensive UAE experience and the ability to coordinate with civil, environmental, and transport teams.

You will mentor engineers, liaise with local authorities, and drive technical excellence, innovation, and business development in Dubai/Sharjah.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10–12+ years of water infrastructure experience.
• UAE project experience with local authority standards.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong technical writing and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of major water infrastructure projects (potable water, drainage, sewerage, TSE/irrigation).
• Provide technical leadership in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and wet utilities design.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure integration across disciplines.
• Deliver design reports, modelling outputs, drawings, tender documents, and studies.
• Engage with clients, present solutions, and ensure timely approvals.
• Guide authority submissions and interface with local authorities for compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge transfer.
• Support project managers in planning, budgeting, risk management and strategy.
• Drive quality assurance and adherence to health & safety standards.
• Contribute to business development through proposals and client relations.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies for sustainable water solutions.
