Job summary

WSP in the Middle East seeks a seasoned Principal Engineer - Water to lead the design and delivery of large-scale water infrastructure projects in Dubai/Sharjah, applying hydrology, wet utilities, and international best practices.

The role requires UAE project experience, multidisciplinary leadership, client engagement, and mentoring junior engineers, with a focus on quality, approvals, and staying ahead of industry trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
• 10–12+ years in water infrastructure design or wet utilities.
• Proven UAE project delivery experience with authority approvals.
• Leadership of multidisciplinary teams across infrastructure programmes.
• Advanced hydrological/hydraulic modelling skills (InfoWorks, EPANET, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS).
• Strong writing and client-facing communication abilities.
• Commitment to innovation and sustainable design.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of major water infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership in hydrology and modelling.
• Coordinate civil, structural, environmental, transport, and other teams.
• Prepare design reports, modelling outputs, specifications, drawings, and tender documents.
• Engage with clients and authorities for approvals.
• Mentor junior engineers and support project leadership.
• Support project managers on planning, budgeting, risk and strategy.
• Drive QA and health & safety compliance.
• Contribute to business development and client relations.
• Stay updated on new technologies and trends in water engineering.
