Role Context
The Principal Structural Engineer is responsible for managing advanced structural engineering activities from conceptual design through FEED and detailed engineering phases. This role ensures discipline execution, engineering integrity, design quality, and multidisciplinary coordination across major EPC projects involving offshore platforms, topsides, jackets, FPSOs, and industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed structural engineering analyses and design according to project specifications, standards, and design basis.
- Prepare and review detailed design calculations, engineering reports, procedures, and structural analysis documentation.
- Lead medium to large engineering teams and manage discipline scope, deliverables, schedules, and manpower planning.
- Coordinate with project teams, customers, certifying authorities, auditors, and third‑party agencies during design execution.
- Prepare structural MTOs, specifications, subcontract documentation, and technical bid evaluations.
- Review vendor data, subcontractor submissions, and design verification reports for compliance with project requirements.
- Perform engineering checks of drafting and structural calculations prepared by other engineers.
- Support design verification through single‑discipline and inter‑discipline checks.
- Prepare advanced structural analyses for topsides, jackets, FPSOs, underground piping, architectural designs, and complex industrial structures.
- Develop weight control reports, center of gravity reports, fatigue analysis, dynamic calculations, and FEM studies.
- Ensure designs meet operational requirements, constructability, maintainability, and client expectations.
- Provide engineering support to construction sites, fabrication yards, and project execution teams.
- Supervise engineers and designers while mentoring junior team members and supporting MOPEX offices.
- Manage design subcontracts, scope changes, project engineering guides, and discipline continuous improvement activities.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas projects with major EPC contractors or consultants.
- Strong expertise in structural engineering design, FEED, and EPC project execution.
- Deep knowledge of structural systems including steel, concrete, geotechnical, blast, fatigue, seismic, and hydrodynamic analysis.
- Strong familiarity with international design codes such as EC, ACI, AISC, API, and GOST.
- Proven experience in offshore structures including jackets, topsides, FPSOs, and complex industrial facilities.
- Strong commercial awareness and project execution understanding.
- Excellent leadership, technical presentation, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
