Role Context

The Principal Structural Designer is responsible for delivering advanced structural engineering solutions for complex industrial and energy infrastructure projects. This position manages discipline execution, technical design quality, engineering coordination, and construction support throughout the full project lifecycle. The role directly contributes to structural safety, project efficiency, fabrication readiness, and long-term operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed structural analyses and design according to project specifications, design basis, and engineering standards
• Prepare detailed design calculations, reports, procedures, specifications, and structural MTOs
• Lead medium to large engineering teams and supervise engineers and designers during project execution
• Manage discipline scope, deliverables, schedules, manpower resources, and technical coordination
• Represent the structural discipline during meetings with project teams, clients, certifying authorities, auditors, and third parties
• Perform engineering checks of drafting and verify design quality through single-discipline and inter-discipline reviews
• Prepare structural analyses for complex structures including topsides, jackets, FPSOs, underground systems, and architectural designs
• Review vendor data, prepare technical bid evaluations, and support subcontract management
• Coordinate with construction sites and fabrication yards to ensure design practicality and execution readiness
• Support project management with schedules, progress reports, cost estimates, and deliverable control
• Train and mentor junior engineers and provide technical support across multiple offices and projects
• Identify and manage scope changes while supporting project execution and commercial objectives

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering
• 15 to 20 years of oil and gas project experience with major contractors or consultants
• Strong expertise in structural detail design and EPC project delivery
• Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a recognized engineering society
• Deep knowledge of structural design codes such as ACI, AISC, API, EC, and related standards
• Strong understanding of steel, concrete, geotechnical, fatigue, blast, hydrodynamics, and dynamic calculations
• Excellent leadership, supervision, and project coordination capabilities
• Strong commitment to HSE, TQM, quality assurance, and cost control
• Fluent English communication skills and technical presentation ability
