Job summary

Halian | Managed Services, Recruitment Agency & Contract Staffing in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates seeks a Principal Rust Engineer to lead the architecture and development of secure, scalable Rust platforms. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing standards, architecture, and mentorship across distributed systems.

You will guide technical decisions, drive Rust adoption, and collaborate with Product, Security, SRE, and Delivery teams to deliver high-performance services at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years building production systems in Rust.
• Proven experience as a Staff, Principal, or Lead Engineer.
• Expertise in distributed systems, backend engineering, and systems programming.
• Deep understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, networking, and performance optimization.
• Strong experience with software architecture, CI/CD, observability, security, and cloud-native platforms.
• Track record of delivering business-critical services at scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop production-grade Rust services and libraries.
• Lead technical decisions across multiple engineering teams.
• Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, standards, and best practices.
• Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Mentor engineers and elevate overall Rust capability across the organization.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, SRE, and Delivery teams to deliver scalable solutions.
