Job summary

ChillBase studio in Dubai seeks a Tech Lead for Server Development to steer architectural decisions, design distributed systems, and maintain high-quality engineering practices across dozens of microservices.

You will lead API contracts via gRPC/Protobuf, drive a Kafka-based event-driven stack, and guide Rust server development while coordinating with product and analytics teams to deliver scalable gaming platform capabilities.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing with Rust and async programming.
• Designing and developing microservice architectures.
• Strong understanding of gRPC, Protobuf, API versioning and contract design.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Relational databases including MySQL/MariaDB with ClickHouse awareness.
• Kubernetes, GitOps, CI/CD workflows and deployment tooling.
• Cloud platforms (GCP) and deployment tooling like ArgoCD/Helm.
• Security models including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT and IAM.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the architecture of a server platform consisting of dozens of microservices.
• Make technical decisions for new services, integrations, and distributed systems.
• Design and maintain API contracts using gRPC, Protobuf, and REST.
• Develop the Kafka-based event-driven architecture with clear data flows.
• Develop and review Rust server-side code with strong quality standards.
• Identify bottlenecks and technical debt in existing codebases for long-term maintainability.
• Design database solutions with transactions, indexes, migrations, and query optimization.
• Improve infrastructure with Kubernetes, GKE, GitOps, and CI/CD practices.
• Develop platform observability with metrics, tracing, SLOs, and diagnostics.
• Contribute to authentication/authorization design and access management.
• Break down complex tasks, participate in planning, and help set priorities.
• Mentor engineers and participate in hiring and team growth.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and web teams to implement shared solutions.
