Job summary

Worley is a global energy, chemicals and resources consultancy delivering projects across the life cycle from FEED to decommissioning. The role leads all materials engineering activities, develops selection strategies, and ensures compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemical, with 5+ years in GCC, and proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in FEED/EPC contexts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 15+ years in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries.
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar leadership role on major Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all materials engineering activities during FEED, EPC, and detailed engineering phases of the project.
  • Develop and implement materials selection strategies for process facilities, pipelines, piping systems, static equipment, and offshore structures.
  • Prepare, review, and approve material selection reports, corrosion studies, material specifications, piping class specifications, and technical requisitions.
  • Perform materials selection and corrosion assessments considering process conditions, operating environments, and project design life requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, and applicable international codes and standards such as NACE, ASME, ASTM, API, and ISO.
  • Provide technical expertise in corrosion control, coating systems, cathodic protection interfaces, metallurgy, welding requirements, and non-metallic materials applications.
  • Review vendor documentation, technical bid evaluations, and material compliance documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Support HAZOP, HAZID, constructability reviews, value engineering studies, and design optimization initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Inspection, and Procurement disciplines to ensure appropriate material selection and specification.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve material-related issues.
  • Monitor engineering deliverables and ensure activities are completed in accordance with project schedules, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Specialists, Senior Engineers, and Engineers to ensure technical excellence and effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent from an accredited university, with a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including a minimum of five (5) years (preferred) in the GCC region.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position on major Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects, managing a team of Specialists, Senior Engineers, and Engineers.
  • ADNOC & Offshore project experience is preferred.
  • PMC experiences are preferrable.
  • Experience in FEED & EPC Phases is required.
  • Strong knowledge of material selection, corrosion engineering, metallurgy, coatings, and international standards including NACE, ASME, ASTM, API, and ISO requirements.
  • Experience in preparing Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs), Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs), and material specifications for offshore and onshore facilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments.
