Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to lead materials engineering activities during FEED, EPC and detailed design on oil & gas and petrochemical projects. You will develop material selection strategies for process facilities, pipelines, offshore structures and static equipment to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operation.

The role requires ADNOC and offshore project experience, strong knowledge of corrosion engineering, metallurgy, coatings and standards such as

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent with 15+ years Oil & Gas/Petrochemical experience.
  • At least 5 years in a senior role leading a team of specialists and engineers.
  • ADNOC and offshore project experience required.
  • Experience in FEED and EPC phases.
  • Strong knowledge of material selection, corrosion, metallurgy, coatings.
  • Familiar with NACE, ASME, ASTM, API, ISO standards.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all materials engineering activities during FEED, EPC and detailed engineering.
  • Develop material selection strategies for process facilities and offshore structures.
  • Prepare material selection reports, corrosion studies, specs and requisitions.
  • Perform materials selection and corrosion assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards and international codes.
  • Provide expertise in corrosion control, coatings, cathodic protection and metallurgy.
  • Review vendor documentation and bid evaluations.
  • Support HAZOP/HAZID and design optimization.
  • Coordinate with disciplines to ensure proper material selection.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients and vendors.
  • Monitor deliverables and ensure schedules, quality and HSE adherence.
  • Lead and mentor a team of specialists and engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all materials engineering activities during FEED, EPC and detailed engineering phases of the project.
  • Develop and implement materials selection strategies for process facilities, pipelines, piping systems, static equipment and offshore structures ensuring safe, reliable and cost‑effective operation.
  • Prepare, review and approve material selection reports, corrosion studies, material specifications, piping class specifications and technical requisitions.
  • Perform materials selection and corrosion assessments considering process conditions, operating environments and project design life requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications and applicable international codes and standards such as NACE, ASME, ASTM, API and ISO.
  • Provide technical expertise in corrosion control, coating systems, cathodic protection, interfaces, metallurgy, welding requirements and non‑metallic materials applications.
  • Review vendor documentation, technical bid evaluations and material compliance documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Support HAZOP, HAZID, constructability reviews, value engineering studies and design optimisation initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Inspection and Procurement disciplines to ensure appropriate material selection and specification.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients, vendors, contractors and stakeholders to resolve material‑related issues.
  • Monitor engineering deliverables and ensure activities are completed in accordance with project schedules, quality standards and HSE requirements.
  • Lead, mentor and supervise a team of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers to ensure technical excellence and effective project delivery.
Minimum Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including a minimum of five (5) years (preferred) in the GCC region.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in a similar position on major Oil & Gas or Petrochemical projects managing a team of Specialists, Senior Engineers and Engineers.
  • ADNOC & Offshore project experience is required.
  • PMC experience is preferable.
  • Experience in FEED & EPC Phases is required.
  • Strong knowledge of material selection, corrosion engineering, metallurgy, coatings and international standards including NACE, ASME, ASTM, API and ISO requirements.
  • Experience in preparing Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs), Corrosion Control Documents (CCDs) and material specifications for offshore and onshore facilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural project environments.
