Job summary

Wood is recruiting for Lead Material and Corrosion Engineer for ADNOC Offshore US LTPD project in Abu Dhabi. The role requires extensive offshore materials, corrosion expertise and oversight of API/ASME/DNV and ADNOC standards compliance.

The candidate will lead material selection, corrosion management plans, RBI activities, and liaise with EPC contractors and project teams to ensure safe, reliable integrity and timely project execution in the Gulf region.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of offshore oil & gas experience.
  • Experience with major operators/contractors (Kent, KBR, Worley, Petrofac, Saipem).
  • PMC experience is highly preferable.
  • Large-project Middle East/GCC experience with major clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of international codes and ADNOC standards.
  • Ability to coordinate with EPC contractors and project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in all Materials and Corrosion.
  • Oversees material selection, corrosion control, and integrity management ensuring compliance with API, ASME, DNV and ADNOC standards.
  • Conduct RBI, auditing EPC contractor deliverables, and managing cathodic protection/coatings.
  • Regularly review contractors to ensure quality and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Prepare/review MSD, MSR, and Piping Material Specifications.
  • Develop CMP, IOW, and conduct corrosion modeling (ECE software).
  • Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables, TBE, and NMR.
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, API (579, 571), BS 7910, DNV, and ADNOC standards.
  • Conduct HAZOP/HAZID workshops, RBI, and troubleshoot site-specific corrosion issues.

Responsibilities:

Job Objective

  • Provide technical expertise in all Materials and Corrosion
  • Oversees material selection, corrosion control, and integrity management ensuring compliance with international standards (API, ASME, DNV) and ADNOC standards
  • Conducting RBI, auditing EPC contractor deliverables, and managing cathodic protection/coatings
  • Perform regular and timely technical reviews of contractors, ensuring quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Prepare/review Material Selection Diagrams (MSD), Material Selection Reports (MSR), and Piping Material Specifications
  • Develop Corrosion Management Plans (CMP), Integrity Operating Windows (IOW), and conduct corrosion modeling (e.g., ECE software).
  • Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), and Non-Material Requirements (NMR)
  • Ensure compliance with ASME, API (579, 571), BS 7910, DNV, and ADNOC standards
  • Conduct risk assessment workshops (HAZOP/HAZID), RBI, and troubleshoot site‑specific corrosion issues
  • Provide expertise in coatings, painting, insulation, and cathodic protection
  • Ensure full utilization of the existing facilities while optimizing the facilities required for the new projects.
  • Participate in layout reviews, Model review, design reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.
  • Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide technical assistance during installation, pre‑commissioning & commissioning
  • Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader, Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization
  • Interface with Managers, Team Leaders and Engineers in Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department
  • Interface regularly with Contractor’s and Project Management team and discipline engineers as and when required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience, predominantly in the oil and gas upstream offshore industry, working for competitor organizations such as Kent, KBR, Worley, Petrofac, and Saipem
  • PMC experience is highly preferable
  • Large-project experience is a must, with Middle East / GCC experience on projects involving clients such as Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy, PDO, etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent technical team management and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards
  • Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
  • Ability to make independent decisions in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities to develop solutions to complex problems
