We are seeking an experienced Principal BIM / Information Manager (Structures) to support the delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the Middle East through effective BIM coordination, information management, and digital delivery practices.
Working closely with structural engineering teams, project managers, design managers, and discipline leads, you will play a key role in ensuring BIM processes are implemented consistently across projects, supporting project mobilisation, coordination, quality assurance, and compliance with ISO 19650 information management requirements.
This role combines strong technical BIM expertise with project-facing coordination responsibilities and is ideal for a professional with a structural engineering background who enjoys driving collaboration, improving delivery workflows, and supporting teams in achieving high-quality digital project outcomes.
Responsibilities
Regional BIM & Information Management Leadership
- Act as the BIM and Information Management lead for the Structural Engineering business across the Middle East and GCC.
- Support the implementation of the regional Digital Delivery Strategy within the Structures business.
- Provide technical leadership, governance, and assurance for BIM-related activities across all structural projects.
- Promote consistent application of ISO 19650 principles, information management processes, and digital delivery standards.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for structure-related BIM and information management queries.
- Support the Head of BIM in developing departmental BIM strategies, standards, workflows, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Project Delivery & Multi-Disciplinary Coordination
- Provide BIM leadership across major multidisciplinary projects from pursuit through project close-out.
- Support project teams in developing BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), Information Delivery Plans (IDPs), and project-specific delivery strategies.
- Lead and support BIM mobilisation activities for strategic projects.
- Ensure structural BIM deliverables are coordinated with architecture, MEP, infrastructure, and specialist disciplines.
- Facilitate model federation, coordination reviews, and issue resolution workflows.
- Support BIM delivery during all stages of design and project delivery.
- Monitor BIM performance against project requirements, contractual obligations, and client expectations.
Information Management
- Support implementation of ISO 19650-compliant information management processes across the Structures business.
- Ensure project teams understand information requirements, delivery milestones, and data quality expectations.
- Promote structured information management practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support compliance with Employer Information Requirements (EIR), Asset Information Requirements (AIR), and Exchange Information Requirements (EIRs).
- Provide guidance on project Common Data Environment (CDE) implementation and governance.
Technical Expertise
- Oversee creation of BIM models, templates, families, and schedules with hands‑on proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Autodesk Forma and related platforms.
- Superior experience of COBie information and spreadsheets generation.
- Ensure interoperability between BIM models and analysis tools for design validation and performance optimization.
- Lead and chair BIM coordination and collaboration meetings.
- Extensive communication with project directors, project managers, and design managers to ensure smooth and successful project delivery.
- Support the RFI authoring and responses, and project communication with different stakeholders and the appointing party.
Quality & Risk Management
- Promote BIM audits, health checks, and project reviews.
- Monitor compliance with project BIM standards and project requirements.
- Support lessons learned initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Identify BIM risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Supervise coordinators/ task team managers and technicians, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
- Facilitate BIM training sessions and promote continuous improvement in digital delivery practices.
- Foster collaboration among internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Identify performance KPIs.
- Analyze current practices and identify potential improvement areas.
- Build on BIM templates.
- Create and enhance BIM strategy and workflow road maps.
- Conduct training to bridge gaps.
- Participate in team building activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 12–15 years' experience within the AEC industry.
- Minimum 8 years of BIM leadership experience on major multidisciplinary projects.
- Proven experience leading BIM delivery for large-scale structural engineering projects across the Middle East.
- Demonstrable experience implementing ISO 19650 workflows and Information Management practices.
- Experience supporting bids, mobilisation, project delivery, and digital transformation initiatives.
