Job summary

Volantes Recruitment is supporting a confidential advanced eVTOL engineering programme with the recruitment of a Principal Battery Systems & Qualification Engineer. This is a hands-on technical role requiring deep expertise across battery pack design, cell selection, thermal behaviour and safety qualification.

You will lead high‑end battery systems work, oversee qualification programs, supplier assessments and ensure compliance with aerospace safety standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' battery/energy storage engineering experience.
• Hands-on battery pack design at cell, module & pack level.
• Cell chemistry and format selection.
• Pack architecture and topology definition.
• Cell characterisation and battery modelling.
• Thermal design and thermal management.
• Thermal runaway, abuse and propagation testing.
• Battery qualification programme experience and development assurance knowledge.
• Supplier technical assessment and component selection.
• Experience within aerospace or safety-critical applications.

• Experience within aerospace or equivalent safety-critical applications

Experience with high-power/high-C-rate battery systems, electric or hybrid-electric aerospace applications and certification environments would be particularly valuable.
