Primary English Coordinator – Curriculum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an Education Management opportunity for an experienced British Curriculum educator with strong capabilities in subject leadership, curriculum development, teacher coaching and academic quality assurance. LEAMS Education is hiring an immediately available coordinator to raise standards across the Primary English Department and improve student engagement, attainment and progress.
Responsibilities
- Lead the improvement of English teaching and learning standards across the primary phase.
- Provide subject‑specific guidance and practical support to Primary English teachers.
- Work with the Primary Head to develop departmental priorities and improvement plans.
- Contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of the Primary English curriculum.
- Ensure curriculum content and teaching approaches align with British Curriculum expectations.
- Review schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment practices for consistency and quality.
- Support teachers in selecting suitable instructional strategies for students of different abilities.
- Promote teaching methods that improve engagement, achievement and measurable progress.
- Conduct regular lesson observations and provide clear developmental feedback.
- Lead team‑teaching sessions to model effective English instruction.
- Organise and deliver continuing professional development sessions for teaching staff.
- Help teachers improve lesson planning, questioning, differentiation and classroom assessment.
- Monitor student learning outcomes and identify areas requiring intervention.
- Review assessment data to track progress across classes and year groups.
- Ensure assessment practices are accurate, consistent and aligned with curriculum standards.
- Support moderation of student work and departmental assessment judgments.
- Identify achievement gaps and coordinate suitable improvement strategies.
- Maintain high expectations for student conduct and classroom discipline.
- Promote consistent implementation of school behaviour policies among students and staff.
- Support teachers in creating inclusive learning environments for students of all abilities.
- Coordinate departmental meetings, subject reviews and collaborative planning activities.
- Share effective resources and teaching practices across the English team.
- Monitor progress against departmental targets and report findings to school leadership.
- Assist with preparations for DSIB inspections and academic quality reviews.
- Ensure departmental documentation, evidence and student data remain inspection‑ready.
- Participate in wider school improvement activities and leadership responsibilities.
- Complete general academic and administrative duties needed to achieve departmental objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education or a closely related discipline.
- Recognised teaching qualification is required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in Primary English teaching or coordination.
- Previous experience in a British Curriculum school is strongly preferred.
- Practical knowledge of British Curriculum English standards and teaching expectations.
- Knowledge and exposure to the DSIB Inspection Framework.
- Demonstrated ability to improve subject standards and student outcomes.
- Experience conducting lesson observations and providing constructive teacher feedback.
- Ability to plan and deliver professional development sessions.
- Strong understanding of curriculum planning, teaching pedagogy and assessment.
- Experience using student data to identify progress gaps and guide intervention.
- Strong classroom management and behaviour leadership skills.
- Ability to support teachers with differentiation and inclusive learning strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organisation, collaboration and team leadership skills.
- Confident working with teachers, middle leaders and senior school leadership.
- Commitment to child safeguarding and high professional standards.
- Immediate availability is preferred.
