Job summary

Heidi Chef Solutions LLC in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, seeks an Automation Software Engineer to develop, modify, test, and maintain industrial automation software using Siemens technologies. The role focuses on software development and remote engineering support using Siemens TIA Portal V21, Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA/HMI platforms.

This position does not include electrical design, panel design or site installation responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience developing Siemens PLC and SCADA software.
• Proficient with STEP 7, S7-1200/1500 PLCs and WinCC Professional/Unified.
• Strong understanding of PLC programming languages and industrial communication protocols.
• Experience supporting FAT and remote commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC applications using Siemens TIA Portal V21.
• Develop and maintain S7-1200/1500 PLC programs.
• Develop, configure and modify WinCC HMI/SCADA apps.
• Review FDS, SOO, and I/O schedules prior to development.
• Collaborate with project managers, controls engineers and commissioning teams.
• Provide remote software support during commissioning and FAT.
• Maintain software version control and documentation.

The position isresponsible for developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining industrialautomation software using Siemens technologies. The role is primarily focused on software development and remote engineering support using Siemens TIA PortalV21, Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA/HMI platforms. This position does notinclude electrical design, panel design or site installation responsibilities.

Work Overview

• Develop PLC application software using Siemens TIA PortalV21.
  
• Develop and maintain Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCprograms.
  
• Develop, configure and modify WinCC HMI/SCADA applications.
  
• Review Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Sequence ofOperations (SOO), Cause & Effect matrices and I/O schedules beforedevelopment.
  
• Develop modular, reusable and well-documented PLC software.
  
• Perform offline software testing using PLCSIM whereapplicable.
  
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) remotely.
  
• Provide remote software support during commissioning andtroubleshooting.
  
• Maintain software version control, backups and revisionhistory.
  
• Prepare software documentation, testing records and changelogs.
  
• Collaborate with project managers, controls engineers andcommissioning teams.
  
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, controlpanel drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs and I/O schedules.
  
• Sound understanding of industrial electrical control systems,including AC/DC circuits, relays, contactors, motor starters (DOL/reversing), analogue/digital I/O, protection devices, residual current protection(RCD/RCCB), and fail-safe control principles.
  
• Workingknowledge of electrical fault-finding, circuit theory, and industrialtroubleshooting techniques to support PLC software development, testing andcommissioning.
