Job summary

Hill International is seeking a Planning Manager in Abu Dhabi to develop, manage, and control the project schedule ensuring timely delivery in line with client requirements.

The role involves monitoring progress, identifying risks and delays, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, assessing changes, and providing clear reporting to senior management and the client. On-site work is expected as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Should be qualified Engineer with a BSc or higher.
• A qualified Engineer with a minimum of 12 to 15 years’ experience Planning works in similar Projects.
• Must be fully conversant with Primavera, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Review Baseline Schedule and report to the Controls Manager.
• Monitor Contractor progress against approved schedules and report shortages to Controls Manager.
• Review recovery schedules submitted by Contractors and ensure staffing is adequate.
• Visit project sites to verify progress aligns with schedules and milestones; report deficiencies to Construction Manager.
• Review daily, weekly and monthly reports and report any deficiencies to Controls Manager.
• Assess time impact claims submitted by Contractors and report assessments to Controls Manager.
• Review field design changes and Trend Notices for time impact.
• Advise Construction Manager on foreseen slippage and corrective actions.
• Attend weekly progress and monthly Executive meetings and help prepare agendas.
• Assist Controls Managers in Monthly Progress reports and Monthly Executive Presentations.
• Review commissioning plans for compliance with Baseline Schedule.
• Participate with PMC staff in Close-Out Reports reviews.

Job description

The Planning Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and controlling the project schedule to ensure timely delivery in line with client requirements. The role involves monitoring progress, identifying risks and delays, and coordinating with contractors and stakeholders to maintain alignment. They assess the impact of changes, implement recovery strategies where required, and provide clear, accurate reporting to senior management and the client. Ultimately, the Planning Manager ensures the project remains on track from a planning and scheduling perspective.

Responsibilities

• Review/comment the Baseline Schedule and other schedule and report to the Controls Manager.
• Review and continuously monitor, against approved schedules, the Contractor’s major construction progress and ensure equipment and manpower are adequate or in case of any shortage report to Controls Manager.
• Review in detail the recovery schedules as submitted by the Contractors and ensure manpower and site supervision staff are increased properly.
• Regular visits to project sites to validate whether the progress of work on site is in compliance with approved schedules, major milestones have been met and report deficiencies to Construction Manager.
• Review all daily, weekly and monthly reports as submitted by Contractor and report to Controls Manager any deficiency or non-compliance.
• Review any claim involving time impact as submitted by the Contractor and report his assessment to Controls Manager.
• Review field design changes and Trend Notices and assess time impact if any.
• Advise the Construction Manager of any foreseen slippage of progress and corrective actions to be taken.
• Attend weekly progress meeting and monthly Executive meetings and participate in preparing the agenda.
• Assist Controls Managers during the preparation of Monthly Progress reports and Monthly Executive Presentations.
• Reviews the commissioning plans as submitted by the Contractor and ensure its compliance with the approved Baseline schedule.
• Participate with PMC staff in reviewing the Close-Out Reports as submitted by the Contractor.
