Overview

Electrical Engineer – Power Maintenance in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is an Oil and Energy opportunity for an experienced electrical engineering professional with strong expertise in power systems, electrical equipment maintenance, grid coordination, root cause failure analysis, technical specifications, factory acceptance testing, site commissioning, and maintenance procedure improvement. The role supports ADNOC Group operations by ensuring electrical assets are maintained safely, efficiently, and in line with HSECES guidelines, MAT requirements, company standards, and operational reliability objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical input to update company specifications and ensure they reflect current industry trends, operational lessons learned, and ADNOC requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze complex electrical engineering problems and recommend effective solutions to support safe and efficient maintenance services.
  • Represent the plant in power grid coordination matters, power studies, switching discussions, and related technical activities.
  • Diagnose electrical equipment issues, analyze failure patterns, and carry out root cause failure analysis to identify the reasons for equipment failure.
  • Recommend remedial measures and corrective actions to avoid repeated equipment failures and improve electrical system reliability.
  • Study and carry out residual life assessment of critical electrical equipment and advise area engineers on required corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with TRANSCO, ADWEA, ADNOC Group operating companies, and relevant external parties for work coordination, switching activities, technical studies, and equipment‑related matters.
  • Witness factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests when required to confirm equipment quality, compliance, and readiness.
  • Support pre‑commissioning and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring installation and performance comply with specifications and approved construction documents.
  • Maintain electrical equipment in line with HSECES guidelines and ensure compliance with MAT requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and update maintenance procedures for electrical equipment to ensure safe execution, technical accuracy, and operational efficiency.
  • Recommend procedure improvements that enhance equipment efficiency, maintainability, safety, and lifecycle performance.
  • Compile and provide input for preparation of division and department capital budgets and operating budgets.
  • Monitor annual expenditure budgets and highlight key cost, material, or maintenance‑related requirements to support effective planning.
  • Carry out periodic reviews of material stock and advise on updates to ensure reliable availability of spares and materials.
  • Review manufacturer information and direct specification revisions, including deletion of obsolete items and incorporation of new materials or equipment items.
  • Ensure spare parts, tools, and electrical materials remain available to support safe and timely maintenance execution.
  • Provide electrical engineering support to operations and maintenance teams for equipment reliability, safety compliance, and technical decision‑making.
  • Support maintenance planning by reviewing critical equipment condition, performance history, obsolescence risk, and spare parts strategy.
  • Work with area engineers to improve electrical equipment performance and reduce avoidable downtime.
  • Ensure maintenance activities follow company standards, safety requirements, technical specifications, and relevant industry practices.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, technical gaps, and opportunities to improve maintenance quality and electrical system performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, failure analysis summaries, maintenance recommendations, specification updates, and budget inputs as required.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in engineering and maintenance of electrical equipment within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance, power systems, plant electrical assets, electrical troubleshooting, and operational reliability.
  • Experience coordinating with power authorities, utility providers, operating companies, and external technical stakeholders.
  • Practical knowledge of power grid coordination, switching activities, factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning.
  • Strong ability to conduct root cause failure analysis and recommend corrective measures for critical electrical equipment.
  • Experience in residual life assessment of electrical equipment and preparation of technical maintenance recommendations.
  • Good understanding of HSECES guidelines, MAT requirements, company specifications, maintenance procedures, and safety compliance.
  • Ability to prepare and update electrical maintenance procedures, technical specifications, budget inputs, and material stock recommendations.
  • Knowledge of spare parts management, equipment obsolescence control, manufacturer updates, and technical specification revision.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, external authorities, and internal technical teams.
