Job summary

Apexcel India Engineering Services in UAE invites a Senior O&M Engineer to lead the operation and maintenance of electrical substations and water treatment plant systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

The role covers HV/LV substations, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, SCADA, and diagnostics; you will supervise technicians, manage spare parts, and coordinate with utility authorities; on-site shift-based work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10–15 years of O&M experience in substations and plants.
• Experience with SCADA, PLCs, and automation is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HV/LV substations, transformers, switchgear and protection systems.
• Monitor equipment performance and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Analyse faults, coordinate troubleshooting and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain logs, reports and documentation of operations and maintenance activities.
• Ensure safety standards and PTW compliance.
• Coordinate with utility authorities and contractors as needed.
• Test and maintain protection relays, circuit breakers, batteries, and SCADA systems.
• Handle emergency breakdowns and restoration activities.

Job Purpose:

To ensure safe, efficient, and continuous operation and maintenance of electrical substations and/or sewage treatment plant systems, complying with technical standards, safety regulations, and contractual requirements.

Substation (Electrical) O&M

• Operate and maintain HV/LV substations, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Monitor equipment performance and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
• Perform routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Analyse faults, coordinate troubleshooting, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain logs, reports, and documentation of all operations and maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
• Coordinate with utility authorities and contractors when required.
• Test and maintain protection relays, circuit breakers, batteries, and SCADA systems.
• Handle emergency breakdowns and restoration activities.

General Responsibilities:

• Implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies.
• Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance tools.
• Support audits, inspections, and client reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• 10-15 years of experience in O&M of substations and plants.
• Experience with SCADA systems, PLCs, and automation is an advantage.
• Knowledge of local regulations and utility standards preferred.
