The Petroleum Engineer - Well Performance will provide technical support across the lifecycle of production and injection wells. The role combines completion planning, artificial lift engineering, well testing, production surveillance, drilling support, workover coordination, and performance optimization. The jobholder will work with reservoir engineering, drilling, production operations, well services, workover, completion, and commissioning teams.
Effective analysis and timely recommendations will help sustain well productivity, improve field offtake, maintain production and injection balance, and reduce avoidable well downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual completion designs for production and injection wells.
- Define completion requirements in line with approved reservoir and production strategies.
- Review well objectives, expected rates, pressure conditions, fluid properties, and operational constraints.
- Recommend appropriate completion equipment, configurations, and operating parameters.
- Coordinate completion requirements with drilling, reservoir, production, and well services teams.
- Perform artificial lift design for oil-producing wells.
- Evaluate suitable artificial lift methods according to well conditions and production objectives.
- Define operating envelopes, equipment requirements, expected performance, and optimization opportunities.
- Monitor artificial lift performance and recommend adjustments when production declines or operating conditions change.
- Develop and finalize well testing strategies for production and injection wells.
- Define test objectives, procedures, equipment requirements, duration, and data acquisition needs.
- Monitor well testing activities and assess the quality of acquired data.
- Interpret test results and determine well productivity, injectivity, pressure behavior, and operating constraints.
- Recommend follow-up actions based on well test findings.
- Monitor daily production and injection well performance.
- Review rates, pressures, temperatures, water cut, gas‑oil ratio, injection performance, and artificial lift indicators.
