Overview

Engineer - Reservoir Development in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is an Oil and Energy opportunity for a petroleum engineering professional focused on well performance analysis, reservoir development, production forecasting, improved recovery planning, and field surveillance. The role supports upstream development decisions by integrating geoscience, reservoir engineering, petroleum engineering, drilling, completion, and surface facilities inputs to enhance production, reduce uncertainty, and maximize long‑term recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze well and reservoir performance to understand production behavior, recovery trends, field constraints, and development opportunities.
  • Review production forecasts and development requirements for different reservoir management and field development options.
  • Develop improved production strategies, completion approaches, and workover plans aimed at increasing production and improving recovery.
  • Evaluate existing wells, reservoirs, and future development concepts to recommend suitable improved recovery options.
  • Apply an integrated approach involving geoscience, reservoir management, petroleum engineering, drilling, completion, and surface facilities.
  • Assess well locations, well numbers, well architecture, completion designs, and production strategies to identify risks and uncertainties.
  • Develop mitigation actions that reduce technical uncertainty and support more reliable field development decisions.
  • Design pilot wells, appraisal wells, and data acquisition plans required to evaluate development concepts and narrow down options.
  • Prepare business case input for pilot implementation and data acquisition based on value of information.
  • Design, review, and analyze SCAL and PVT laboratory studies to support reservoir characterization and development planning.
  • Participate in integrated reservoir characterization studies using both dynamic and static reservoir data.
  • Evaluate and optimize reservoir development schemes using core reservoir engineering methods and production performance evidence.
  • Integrate reservoir, well, simulation, laboratory, and surveillance data to improve sweep efficiency and recovery performance.
  • Supervise or conduct single well studies and sector model studies to assess completion designs and recovery processes.
  • Develop reservoir surveillance plans to monitor field performance and verify the effectiveness of selected development options.
  • Provide technical input for section MIS reports, progress updates, management reviews, and development decision papers.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise assigned reservoir development activities to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and support assigned staff on relevant reservoir engineering, field development, and production optimization practices.
  • Provide budget input for department or section activities and support approved work plans.
  • Investigate major budget or performance variances and highlight key issues for cost and performance control.
  • Implement approved policies, systems, standards, procedures, and work processes in line with company and international requirements.
  • Support innovation by identifying tools, techniques, and workflow improvements that improve technical quality and process efficiency.
  • Comply with applicable legislation, legal regulations, HSE policies, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in field development activities, reservoir simulation studies, and new technology assessment for production enhancement.
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum engineering, reservoir engineering, production forecasting, well performance analysis, and improved recovery techniques.
  • Experience evaluating development concepts, reservoir performance, completion strategies, workover opportunities, and recovery improvement options.
  • Practical understanding of geoscience integration, reservoir management, drilling interfaces, completion design, and surface facilities considerations.
  • Ability to identify reservoir risks, production uncertainties, recovery limitations, and development optimization opportunities.
  • Experience with SCAL and PVT laboratory studies and their application in reservoir characterization.
  • Strong capability in single well studies, sector model studies, surveillance planning, and performance evaluation of recovery processes.
  • Good understanding of dynamic and static data integration, sweep efficiency improvement, simulation outputs, and field development planning.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, progress inputs, MIS updates, and management decision‑support material.
  • Strong analytical thinking, technical judgment, coordination, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Able to work with internal teams, consultants, third‑party service providers, and government agencies when required.
