GEMS Royal Dubai School in Dubai is seeking a dynamic and passionate Secondary Performing Arts teacher to join our high-performing team. You will lead the development of the department and drive excellent, engaging lessons across key stages.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised teaching qualification and a degree in Performing Arts or related subject, with experience at secondary level and GCSE; BTEC experience is desirable.

Qualifications

  • A recognised teaching qualification and degree in Performing Arts, Drama, Dance, or a closely related subject.
  • Experience of teaching Performing Arts at secondary level and GCSE; experience of delivering BTEC Performing Arts is desirable.
  • A proven record of securing strong student outcomes.
  • Excellent classroom practice, behaviour management and communication skills.
  • The ambition, adaptability and collaborative mindset required to contribute to a growing secondary school.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver consistently excellent, engaging Performing Arts lessons, using strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy to develop performance, creativity, collaboration, communication, technical understanding and critical evaluation across relevant disciplines.
  • Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation, creating a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment in which every student can succeed.
  • Use assessment effectively to adapt teaching, provide meaningful feedback, track progress and implement timely intervention.
  • Continue to develop the secondary Performing Arts curriculum planning, productions, practical resourcing, assessment and moderation, and prepare for future vocational and post-16 pathways as the secondary phase grows.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, working collaboratively and communicating progress clearly.
  • Contribute actively to the wider life and culture of the school through pastoral responsibilities, enrichment, extra-curricular activities and community events.
  • Demonstrate a reflective, solution-focused High-Performance mindset and engage fully in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.
  • Promote and safeguard students’ welfare and personal development, following all school policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, as directed by the Principal.

Job Purpose

To deliver consistently excellent Performing Arts teaching that inspires creativity, confidence and self-expression, develops students’ practical, collaborative and evaluative skills, and secures strong progress for every student. The postholder will be strategic to the continued development of Performing Arts across the growing secondary phase and uphold the values, standards and wider vision of GEMS Royal Dubai School.
