Job summary

SteerAI, Abu Dhabi, seeks a Perception Engineer to maintain and enhance the CoreX perception module for autonomous ground robotics. You will implement object detection, segmentation, multi-object tracking and LiDAR-based terrain understanding within a ROS-based framework.

You will collaborate with localization, planning and controls teams, tune perception in real-world tests, and document system components for reliability and deployment across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Vision, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in real-time perception or computer vision systems.
• Strong programming skills in C++, with hands-on ROS1/ROS2 experience.
• Proficiency with OpenCV, PCL, Open3D, PyTorch and TensorRT.
• Experience with sensor calibration, LiDAR filtering and multi-sensor perception.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve the perception module of SteerAI’s CoreX autonomy stack.
• Develop object detection, semantic segmentation, multi-object tracking, and LiDAR-based terrain understanding.
• Extend perception for new robotics platforms and deployment scenarios.
• Write modular, efficient C++ code aligned with ROS1/ROS2 standards.
• Collaborate with localization, planning, and controls teams for integration.
• Conduct field testing and iterate tuning of perception features.
