Job summary

SteerAI, an autonomous mobility technology company, seeks a Senior Perception Engineer for its GROUND Robotics team. You will lead perception feature design, develop real-time C++ code, and drive field validation for autonomous missions across ground platforms.

You will own critical CoreX perception components, coordinate with localization, planning, and controls teams, and mentor junior engineers. Strong ROS, LiDAR, and deep learning expertise required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Vision, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in the design and deployment of real-time perception, computer vision, or autonomy systems.
• Expert-level programming skills in C++ with ROS1/ROS2 experience.
• Proficiency with perception libraries (PCL, Open3D, OpenCV) and deep learning stacks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, TensorRT).
• Hands-on experience with transformer-based models and real-time data pipelines.
• Experience in multi-sensor fusion, high-density point clouds, and sensor calibration.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize core perception features, improving multi-object tracking and semantic understanding.
• Own one or more components of the CoreX perception module from concept to production.
• Develop high-performance C++ code aligned with ROS standards and real-time constraints.
• Lead integration with localization, planning, and controls teams to optimize interfaces.
• Design and execute field validation and testing to meet mission-critical requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide best coding practices.
• Contribute to architectural discussions to fit new features into CoreX.
