Job summary

Future Health Biobank GCC is seeking a Part-time Medical Director in Dubai to provide medical oversight for stem cell processing and banking activities. The role requires a DHA-licensed physician with experience in cellular therapy and regenerative medicine.

Ideal candidates will oversee clinical governance, review SOPs, ensure patient safety, and collaborate with hospitals and research partners. The position is on-site in Dubai with regulatory and licensing responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Medical Doctor (MBBS, MD or equivalent).
• Specialist/Consultant in Pathology, Haematology, Transfusion Medicine, or another related field relevant to cellular therapy.
• Relevant experience in stem cells and/or cellular therapy.
• Experience in cellular therapy product processing.
• Appropriate recent practical experience in stem cell processing procedures in line with DHA requirements.
• Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and cellular therapy standards.
• Ability to undertake the responsibilities of Medical Director for a stem cell processing facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for the facility's stem cell processing and banking activities.
• Oversee medical aspects of cellular therapy product processing.
• Review and approve relevant medical SOPs and clinical policies.
• Provide medical oversight regarding product suitability and release.
• Support activities involving cord blood, cord tissue, MSCs, bone marrow, adipose-derived cells and other cellular products, where within the facility's approved scope.
• Provide medical and scientific guidance regarding cellular therapy and regenerative medicine.
• Review medical incidents, adverse events, deviations and clinical risks requiring physician input.
• Work closely with the Laboratory Director, Quality and Regulatory teams.
• Support compliance with DHA and other applicable UAE regulatory requirements.
• Participate in DHA inspections, audits and licensing activities when required.
• Oversee and support staff training and competency documentation from a medical perspective.
• Collaborate with hospitals, treating physicians, universities and research institutions.
• Support the development and medical review of clinical research and cellular therapy programs.
• Provide medical input into new stem cell and regenerative medicine services.

Job description

The successful candidate must be a DHA-licensed physician with relevant experience in stem cells, cellular therapy and/or regenerative medicine.

DHA Specialty Requirement

In line with DHA requirements for stem cell services, the Medical Director must be a DHA-licensed physician specializing in:

• Pathology
• Haematology
• Or another related medical field relevant to cellular therapy

The candidate should have relevant experience in cellular therapy product processing and demonstrate appropriate practical experience in stem cell processing procedures in accordance with applicable DHA requirements.

Mandatory Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MBBS, MD or equivalent).

• Experience in cellular therapy product processing.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Mesenchymal Stromal/Stem Cells (MSCs).
• Cord blood and cord tissue processing.

• Adipose-derived stem/stromal cells.
• Cell culture and expansion.
• Regenerative medicine and advanced cellular therapies.
• Previous experience within a stem cell bank, cellular therapy facility or cell-processing laboratory.
• Experience with DHA regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with AABB, FACT/JACIE, GMP/GxP or equivalent cellular therapy standards.
• Experience supporting clinical trials or research involving cellular therapies.

Working Arrangement

This is a part-time position based in Dubai, requiring scheduled on-site attendance and availability for medical oversight, regulatory matters, case review and consultation as required.

The Medical Director will work closely with t Laboratory Director, Quality & Regulatory team and clinical partners.
