Job summary

NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to deliver high‑standard clinical care across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will conduct comprehensive assessments, plan and implement treatment, and contribute to seating and splinting services, while supporting a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a DHA/MOH/DOH license or equivalent, English proficiency, and a willingness to relocate to Dubai.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/ Diploma in Occupational Therapy or Master's degree.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience; 3+ years clinical experience.
  • DHA/MOH/DOH license or equivalent licensure.
  • Experience in tertiary care hospitals with outpatient and inpatient OT services.
  • Experience in neuro, ortho, pediatric, seating, and splinting.
  • Excellent command of English; Arabic language desirable.
  • Willing to relocate to Dubai.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive OT assessments using advanced analytical skills.
  • Select appropriate treatment techniques to improve ADLs and provide assistive devices.
  • Perform seating assessments and splinting per guidelines.
  • Review patient condition and adjust treatment plans to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate results via reports and handovers.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide patient, family and carer education on medical management.
  • Participate in mandatory trainings and adhere to safety policies.

Job Description
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work and to ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under own care and support other team members to do likewise
  • To undertake a comprehensive, highly specialist Occupational therapy assessment of patients including those with the most complex presentation, using advanced investigative and analytical skills
  • To select appropriate treatment techniques, this may include improving independence in ADLs, provide the necessary assistive devices, conducting seating assessments etc.
  • To safely use the splinting techniques in accordance with the PIMC guidelines formulated.
  • To conduct a seating assessment to provide a suitable seating system for patients.
  • To review and evaluate patient’s condition at each session and amend the treatment program as necessary to achieve planned objectives
  • To maintain comprehensive and accurate assessment and treatment records in line with legal and departmental requirements, and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and clinical handovers (SBAR).
  • To efficiently and effectively manage designated case load with regard to clinical responsibilities and use of time
  • To work with members of the multi‑disciplinary team, to ensure optimal outcomes for the patient
  • To provide advice, teaching and instruction to patient, relatives and carers regarding their medical management and care needs to ensure a consistent approach to patient care, whilst promoting understanding of the aims of Occupational Therapy
  • To communicate effectively with patients and carers, whilst addressing cultural, religious and language barriers, to maximise rehabilitation potential, to ensure understanding of condition and address anxieties and concerns. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, and gaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients.
  • Being an active member of the in‑service training program by the attendance and presentation at staff meetings, tutorials, training sessions, external courses and reflective practice
  • Informal/formal supervision with Senior Occupational Therapist/ and or Manager
  • Participate in the staff appraisal scheme and identify objectives for personal development with the Senior Occupational Therapist/ and or Manager.
  • To attend mandatory training sessions, including annual fire and safety lectures, cardiac resuscitation lectures and safe patient manual handling training
  • To ensure the application of professional standards in day‑to‑day practice of Occupational Therapy
  • To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out clinical duties and to adhere to departmental equipment policy, including competence to use equipment and to ensure the safe use of equipment by others
  • To comply with the organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the Senior Occupational Therapist and/or Manager.
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard
Communication
  • To communicate effectively and collaboratively with nursing and medical colleagues to ensure a delivery of a coordinated multi‑disciplinary service. This will include case conferences, handovers and documentation in the medical records.
  • Communicates effectively and calmly in difficult situations.

  • Communicates the mission, vision and values of the facility internally and externally

  • Develops own skills and knowledge
  • Recognizes the necessity to continuously develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to the position.

Health, Safety and Security
  • Adheres to the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHS-AD).
  • Adheres to the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines.
  • Understands and adheres to emergency preparedness, fire safety and code policies/plans.
  • Has the responsibility for Environmental, Occupational Health and safety and Infection prevention and Control within the entire facility.
  • Report any hazard / risk and conduct a risk assessment in their area.
  • Complete their mandatory education and competencies as well as their specific education and competencies.
  • Report any serious injury or non‑serious injury.
  • Participate in emergency mock drills
  • Follow up and correct the deficiencies identified during the inspections/audits that relates to them.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree/ Diploma in Occupational Therapy OR Masters
  • 2+ Years of Experience & 3 years + clinical experience
  • DHA / MOH / DOH License or Pass and Home country licensure
  • Experience in a tertiary care hospital with outpatient and inpatient Occupational Therapy services.
  • Experience working in different clinical areas across rehabilitation, namely neuro, ortho, pediatric, seating, splinting etc.
  • NDT Knowledge, Sensory Integration Qualification
  • Adult and Pediatric experience
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
  • Looking to relocate to Dubai
