Network Engineer (Network & Security)
SELECTED is partnering with a well-established business in Dubai to hire a Network Engineer for its IT team. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys owning a network end to end, from infrastructure and wireless through to firewalls and security. You'll be the go-to person for keeping the organisation's network fast, stable and secure.
About the role
Reporting to the IT Manager, you will manage and improve the organisation's network and security across its offices. You'll handle daily operations and troubleshooting, and you'll also have real input into how the network is secured, documented and developed.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure and maintain the network: Cisco switches and routers, FortiGate firewalls, Cisco Meraki wireless, VPN and VoIP
- Design and manage network security, including segmentation, ACLs, VDOMs, IPS/IDS, NAC, ZTNA and deep inspection
- Provide L1 and L2 support for connectivity issues, outages and performance problems
- Monitor network health and vulnerabilities using Zoho Site24x7
- Run routine vulnerability assessments and penetration tests across servers, websites and applications
- Investigate and resolve security incidents with the CSIRT
- Patch and update network devices, and keep firmware and configuration backups secure
- Look after NAS storage and backup solutions
- Keep physical and logical network diagrams up to date
- Write and maintain network and information security policies and procedures
- Support external audits with documentation and evidence
- Work with ISPs on installations and maintenance
- Train employees on network and security best practice
- Carry out planned maintenance outside regular hours when needed
What you'll bring
- 2 to 4 years' experience in a network engineering role covering both networking and security
- CCNA or CCNP (mandatory)
- Fortinet NSE certification (mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with Cisco and FortiGate; Cisco Meraki experience is a strong plus
- A solid understanding of network security principles
- Exposure to network deployment and upgrade projects
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field
- CEH, CMNO or CISSP is an advantage
- Fluent English; additional languages are a bonus
