Overview
MEP Technician – Food Facilities works in GMG’s food‑processing facilities to keep mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems running safely and efficiently. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repair work, system inspections, service documentation, and supporting uninterrupted production operations through reliable facility maintenance.
Role Context
The MEP Technician supports production continuity, facility hygiene, equipment uptime, energy efficiency, and compliance with maintenance standards. Working closely with the Maintenance Assistant Manager, the technician performs planned maintenance, responds to breakdowns, and identifies practical improvements that reduce disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across food processing facilities.
- Diagnose faults in HVAC, electrical panels, plumbing lines, pumps, fixtures, motors, controls, and related facility equipment.
- Perform corrective repairs and replace faulty parts to restore system performance with minimum disruption to production.
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules in coordination with the Maintenance Assistant Manager.
- Monitor MEP system performance and identify early signs of wear, failure, leakage, overheating, vibration, or operational inefficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, parts usage, breakdowns, and follow‑up actions.
- Manage repair parts and inventory requirements to support timely maintenance and reduce avoidable downtime.
- Ensure all MEP systems operate in line with health, safety, food facility, and company quality standards.
- Support HVAC maintenance, electrical servicing, plumbing repairs, and basic facility utility checks as required.
- Provide practical recommendations for system upgrades, reliability improvements, energy efficiency, and maintenance process enhancements.
- Respond quickly to urgent mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues that may affect production, safety, or facility operations.
- Follow safe working procedures when handling tools, electrical systems, moving equipment, and maintenance materials.
- Support compliance with internal maintenance procedures, health and safety requirements, and operational standards.
- Communicate maintenance updates, recurring faults, parts needs, risks, and completed work clearly to supervisors and relevant teams.
- Keep work areas, tools, and equipment organized, clean, and ready for safe maintenance activity.
Ideal Profile (Qualifications)
- High school diploma or relevant technical qualification.
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in MEP systems maintenance within facilities, manufacturing, food production, or industrial operations.
- Strong hands‑on experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems maintenance and repair.
- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
- Practical knowledge of preventive maintenance practices, safety standards, and MEP system operations.
- Experience documenting maintenance activities, inspection findings, repair actions, and service records.
- Ability to work with maintenance schedules, breakdown priorities, spare parts, and operational deadlines.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a reliable and safety‑focused approach.
- Understanding of maintenance requirements in processing, production, or facility environments is preferred.
- Certification in Electrical Systems or Basic HVAC Maintenance is an advantage.
- Able to work independently and coordinate with maintenance, production, and facility teams when required.
