Job summary

Tanqeeb in Dubai seeks a Senior MEP Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to lead design and delivery of large-scale MEP projects. You will work from feasibility through handover, coordinating across disciplines and interfacing with architects, clients and contractors to ensure integrated, compliant solutions.

The role emphasizes HVAC and mechanical services design, with exposure to labs, healthcare, warehouses and specialised facilities. UAE/GCC standards knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
• 8+ years' relevant MEP engineering experience with a strong mechanical bias.
• Strong consultancy and design background.
• Previous UAE and/or GCC experience is highly desirable.
• Strong experience in HVAC and mechanical services design.
• Good working knowledge of wider MEP systems, including Public Health/Plumbing and Fire Protection.
• Experience in commercial interiors, workplace fit-outs, refurbishment and renovation.
• Experience in specialist environments such as laboratories, healthcare, warehouses, technical facilities, server rooms or kitchens is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of UAE/GCC authority requirements and relevant standards, including ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, SMACNA and UAE Fire & Life Safety Code.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver MEP engineering design with a strong focus on mechanical and HVAC systems.
• Develop and review HVAC, Public Health/Plumbing and Fire Protection systems.
• Prepare, check and verify mechanical engineering calculations.
• Produce coordinated MEP designs and technical documentation.
• Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, public health, fire protection, architectural and structural disciplines.
• Assess existing MEP infrastructure and verify system capacity for refurbishment and fit-out projects.
• Manage landlord interfaces, live-building constraints and planned shutdown requirements.
• Review contractor submissions, proposals and technical information, providing clear and technically justified recommendations.
• Support client presentations, technical discussions and project meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant UAE/GCC authority requirements and applicable international standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Manage multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining quality and programme.
• Consider the commercial and programme implications of engineering decisions.

SENIOR MEP ENGINEER - (MECHANICAL BIAS) Dubai | Reporting to MEP Director

We are looking for an experienced MEP Engineer with a strong mechanical bias to join a leading design and consultancy environment in Dubai. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MEP professional who combines strong mechanical engineering expertise with a broader understanding of multidisciplinary MEP design and coordination. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HVAC and mechanical services, while being comfortable coordinating across wider MEP disciplines and working closely with architects, clients, contractors and other engineering specialists.

The Role

As a Senior MEP Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of projects from feasibility and concept through to construction and handover. While the position has a clear mechanical bias, you will be expected to have a good overall understanding of MEP systems and how they integrate within complex commercial and specialist environments. Your experience will ideally include commercial interiors, workplace fit-outs, refurbishment and renovation, with exposure to specialist environments such as laboratories, healthcare, warehouses, technical facilities, server rooms and commercial kitchens highly advantageous.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, MEP Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university.
• Ideally 8+ years' relevant MEP engineering experience, with a strong mechanical bias.
• Strong consultancy and design background.
• Previous UAE and/or GCC experience is highly desirable.
• Strong experience in HVAC and mechanical services design.
• Good working knowledge of wider MEP systems, including Public Health/Plumbing and Fire Protection.

• Excellent client-facing, communication, presentation and technical writing abilities.
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop junior team members.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the cost and programme implications of engineering decisions.
• UAE Society of Engineers membership or equivalent professional registration is advantageous.
