Job summary

Sinopack Search is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer in Dubai to join a leading MEP design consultancy. You will take technical ownership of projects from concept through detailed design to handover, leading HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design for workplace interiors and refurbishments.

Role involves reviewing calculations, coordinating with architects, contractors and consultants, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with UAE authorities, ASHRAE and CIBSE.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a MEP design environment.
• Experience in commercial interiors, workplaces fit-outs or refurbishments.
• Ability to perform HVAC design and engineering calculations independently.
• Solid knowledge of chilled-water, VRF/VRV, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection.
• Experience delivering projects from concept to handover with QA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Prepare and review cooling load calculations, ventilation requirements, duct and pipe sizing.
• Assess existing buildings and landlord provisions for fit-out projects.
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, consultants and contractors.

• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support the MEP team.

Job description

I’m working with an established design consultancy in Dubai that’s looking to appoint an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its MEP team.

The business delivers projects across workplace, commercial interiors, refurbishment and specialist technical environments throughout the UAE and wider GCC.

This is a hands‑on design role, working closely with the MEP Director and taking technical ownership of projects from initial concept through detailed design, tender, construction and handover.

The Role:

• Lead the mechanical design and coordination of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.
• Prepare and review cooling load calculations, ventilation requirements, duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection and associated technical documentation.
• Assess existing building services, system capacities and landlord provisions for commercial fit‑out and refurbishment projects.
• Coordinate with architects, interior designers, consultants and contractors to deliver practical, buildable engineering solutions.
• Review technical drawings, specifications, contractor submittals and RFIs.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support the development of the MEP team.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally within an established MEP design consultancy.
• Strong experience in commercial interiors, workplace fit‑outs and refurbishment projects.
• Proven ability to independently undertake HVAC design and engineering calculations.
• Good technical knowledge of chilled‑water systems, VRF/VRV, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection.
• Experience delivering projects from concept through construction and handover.
• Strong understanding of UAE authority requirements, ASHRAE, CIBSE and relevant international standards.
• Experience with Carrier HAP, AutoCAD and Revit/BIM coordination would be advantageous.

This is a design‑focused position, so we’re particularly interested in engineers who have a strong consultancy background rather than predominantly site‑based or maintenance experience.
