Job summary

GMG is seeking an MEP Designer in Dubai to develop detailed MEP designs for retail, supermarkets, and furniture outlets across GCC and SE Asia. You will prepare drawings using AutoCAD and Revit MEP, coordinate with architects, and ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, and DEWA/SEWA standards.

With 2–4 years in MEP design, preferably in retail/construction, you will perform load calculations, duct sizing, equipment selection, and contribute to BOQ and technical reports, while ensuring

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in MEP design, preferably in retail construction or consultancy.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit MEP for detailed drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of GCC/local standards (ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, DEWA, SEWA).
• Strong technical drawing and detailing skills; load calculations and equipment selection.
• Cross-disciplinary coordination and integration with architectural/work engineering teams.
• Experience in BOQ preparation and technical reports.

Responsibilities

Job description

The MEP Designer is responsible for developing detailed and compliant mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system designs for various building types, with a primary focus on retail stores, supermarkets, and furniture outlets across the GCC and Southeast Asia. The role involves preparing precise drawings and schematics, coordinating with architects and consultants, and ensuring designs meet safety, sustainability, and local regulatory standards. The designer also contributes to cost estimation and technical documentation, playing a key role in ensuring effective, integrated building solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed MEP designs, drawings, and schematics using CAD/Revit,software.
• Develop mechanical (HVAC), electrical, and plumbing layouts for retail stores, super markets and furniture stores.
• Coordinate with architects and project managers to integrate MEP systems into the overall building design.
• Perform load calculations, duct and machine sizing, and selection of HVAC equipment, electrical circuits, electrical load schedule for all GCC regions and plumbing systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant GCC and south east asia codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, local regulations).
• Review and revise designs based on feedback from MEP engineers or landlords /consultants.
• Support the preparation of Bill of Quantities (BOQ), specifications, and technical reports.
• Attend project meetings and site visits when necessary to resolve design-related issues.
• Designing systems that are energy-efficient and sustainable utilizing local resources.
• Effectively communicating design information, project requirements, and technical details to all stakeholders

People Management:

The incumbent holds no direct supervisory responsibilities but is expected to engage effectively within their function and collaboratively across cross-functional teams. This role contributes meaningfully, whether through operational contributions and/or by offering specialized expertise, guidance, and support, to ensure alignment with either functional and/or strategic organizational goals and objectives.

Functional / Technical Competencies:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP
• HVAC design and load calculation tools (e.g., HAP, Carrier E20)
• Electrical design tools and software
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, DEWA, SEWA, and other GCC/local authority standards
• Strong technical drawing and detailing skills
• Project documentation (BOQ, specifications, technical reports)
• Cross-disciplinary coordination
• Sustainable and energy-efficient system design

2-4 years of experience in MEP design, preferably in the retail construction or consultancy sector.
