Job summary

ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants seeks an experienced Mechanical Inspector for a project in Abu Dhabi. Immediate joiner preferred.

The role involves on-site supervision, inspection of contractor activities, review of shop drawings, materials, and ITPs, and ensuring compliance with contract documents and local codes. The candidate should hold a Bachelor's or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant UAE experience, strong knowledge of construction and safety practices,

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, monitor and inspect on-site contractor activities per shop drawings, materials, method statements and ITPs.
  • Inspect site conditions prior to start of construction activities.
  • Verify compatibility of the site with designed permanent works and check for obstructions.
  • Document existing property conditions and ensure protection of structures, utilities and landscaping.
  • Review delivered materials for conformance with approved samples and equipment.
  • Check that delivered materials are properly stored and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect temporary and permanent works for compliance with contract documents and submittals.
  • Attend Inspection Requests from the contractor and take timely action.
  • Review shop drawings against contract drawings, specifications, local codes and international best practice.
  • Report non-conforming works to stakeholders for appropriate action.
  • Monitor quality of works and site safety, including health and environmental issues, per contract/QCS specs.
  • Prepare daily logs and reports.
  • Maintain records of daily activities and progress photos for inspection.
  • Prepare surveillance reports for deficiencies and non-conformances as needed.
  • Ensure coordination between disciplines and resolve issues on site.
  • Provide technical input to resolve discipline-related issues on site.
  • Observe site safety practices and monitor progress, reporting concerns.
  • Assist with inspection of completed works and preparation of punch lists.
  • Monitor start-up, testing, commissioning and handover of works.
  • Perform other duties as required by the direct manager.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our team for our project in Abu Dhabi.

Immediate joiner is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise, monitor and inspect all activities carried out by the Contractor on site in accordance with the approved shop drawings, materials, method statements and ITPs.
  • Inspecting site conditions prior to start of construction activities.
  • Verifying the compatibility of the site with the designed permanent works and checking for obstructions.
  • Documenting the condition of existing property that might be damaged by the work and ensuring all existing structures, property, utilities and landscaping are properly protected.
  • Reviewing materials delivered to site for conformance with approved samples, materials and equipment and report findings.
  • Checking that materials delivered to site are properly stored and report discrepancies.
  • Inspecting the construction of temporary and permanent works to ensure compliance with the Contract Documents and approved shop drawings and submittals.
  • Attending to Inspection Requests submitted by the contractor and take appropriate action in a timely manner.
  • Reviewing submitted shop drawings against contract drawings and specifications, local codes and statutory requirements and international best practice.
  • Reporting any works carried out by contractor found to not be in accordance with approved drawing and specifications and report to stakeholders for appropriate action.
  • Monitoring quality of works and assess the safety at site including health and environmental issues, ensuring compliance with contractual / QCS specifications and safety and health risk assessments.
  • Preparing daily logs and reports.
  • Maintaining records for daily activities on site including progress photos and ensure they are readily available for inspection as and when required.
  • Preparing surveillance report(s) for deficiencies of work found at site and non-conformance reports if required in view of the development of events.
  • Checking and ensuring there is effective co-ordination between disciplines related works and all other disciplines.
  • Providing technical input and experiences to resolve any discipline related issues on site that may arise.
  • Observing site safety practices and the progress of the work and reporting any concerns.
  • Assisting with the inspection of completed works and assisting in preparing punch lists. Monitoring the start-up, testing, commissioning and handover of the works.
  • Perform all other duties given by the direct manager.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Educational Background:

Bachelors' Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar or equivalent position, with 3 years' experience in the UAE

  • Skills:

Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems and trade practices is required.

Computer proficiency and knowledge and experience using computer software.

Ability to communicate logically and clearly with management and staff.

Commitment to safe work practices.
