Job summary

AECOM Middle East Limited - Al Ain is seeking an experienced Engineer - Material to join our Abu Dhabi team. You will select and optimize materials for industrial and materials handling projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to meet performance, cost, and sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities include material analysis, specifications, testing, supplier coordination, and documentation for design reviews. PE registration is advantageous; on-site work in Al Ain/UAE.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in materials engineering, materials selection, or materials handling.
• Advanced proficiency in design and analysis software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
• Experience with material testing, quality control, and standards compliance.
• Professional Engineer registration (ECSA, PEng, or equivalent) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct material analysis, selection, and specification for industrial projects and materials handling systems.
• Develop and maintain material specifications, datasheets, and documentation per codes and standards.
• Perform material testing, QC assessments, and failure analysis to meet performance criteria.
• Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and process teams to optimize material choices for cost and durability.
• Coordinate with suppliers to source materials and manage procurement processes.
• Prepare material reports and technical documentation for design reviews.
• Support project coordination meetings with material engineering input.
• Manage testing schedules, QA procedures, and revision control of outputs.
• Mentor junior team members and stay updated on industry developments.
