Job summary

ADNOC Group in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Manager - Major Engineering Projects to provide accountable leadership across the full capital project life cycle, from initial business case through commissioning and handover, ensuring value, safety and reliable assets.

You will lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, coordinate with operations, finance and contracting, and govern scope, schedules and budgets while enforcing HSE and quality standards to deliver complex oil and gas facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 12 years of professional experience in project engineering or project execution for oil and gas developments.
• Five or more years leading multi-disciplinary employees, consultants and contractors.
• Valid PMP certification.
• Demonstrated involvement in major plant, surface facility or infrastructure projects.
• Practical knowledge of contracts, tendering, procurement, planning, budgeting and cost control.

• Provide technical leadership during proposal development, concept selection, feasibility review and early project definition.
• Establish project objectives, scopes, execution strategies, work programs, engineering standards and contractor terms of reference.
• Coordinate design development, materials specifications, procurement planning and technical input for contract tendering.

Role Context

The Manager - Major Engineering Projects provides accountable leadership across the complete capital project life cycle. From assessing an initial business requirement to transferring a completed facility to the operating team, the position ensures that technical, commercial and operational decisions protect project value. Sound judgment in this role directly affects capital efficiency, production readiness and asset reliability. Effective control of scope, engineering, procurement and contractor performance will reduce exposure to rework, cost escalation, unsafe execution and delays that could affect production targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership during proposal development, concept selection, feasibility review and early project definition.
• Establish project objectives, scopes, execution strategies, work programs, engineering standards and contractor terms of reference.
• Coordinate design development, materials specifications, procurement planning and technical input for contract tendering.
• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams from project initiation through design, construction, commissioning, startup and handover.
• Work with operations, Finance, Commercial Support and other departments to refine specifications, costs, schedules and implementation phases.
• Manage project management consultants and verify that site supervision, project administration and progress reporting remain effective.
• Direct multinational contractors while enforcing approved procedures, engineering practices, quality controls and HSE requirements.
• Oversee bidder prequalification and contribute to technical evaluations, tender board discussions and contract award recommendations.
• Review expenditure requests, purchase recommendations, subcontracts and variation orders within delegated financial authority.
• Maintain control over project budgets, commitments, cost forecasts, currency requirements, import considerations and financial risks.
• Evaluate alternative engineering and construction approaches, including fabrication methods, structural materials and phased facility acceptance.
• Track engineering, procurement and construction performance against approved targets and initiate recovery action when deviations occur.
• Assess contractor performance across safety, quality, cost and schedule, ensuring that identified deficiencies receive corrective action.
• Approve project safety programs and confirm compliance with authorized method statements and company HSE rules.
• Protect the technical integrity of surface facilities throughout project definition, design, execution and final acceptance.
• Advise management on forecast completion dates, startup planning, workforce needs and operational readiness.
• Prepare weekly highlights and monthly management reports covering project progress, expenditure, risks and contractor performance.
• Participate in technical committees, project reviews and companywide meetings as the subject matter authority.
• Recommend the acceptance, revision or rejection of project work programs and execution proposals.
• Deliver assigned developments within approved HSE, quality, cost and schedule parameters.
