Job summary

GAL in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Manager – Aviation Maintenance to lead aircraft maintenance operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and keep our fleet mission-ready. You will oversee all maintenance activities, mentor technicians and team leads, drive airworthiness standards, and collaborate across functions to minimize downtime while upholding the highest safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Aviation Maintenance Management, A&P or equivalent, 10+ years of maintenance

• 10+ years of aviation maintenance experience, military aviation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations and quality control.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Aviation Maintenance Manager to lead aircraft maintenance operations, ensure regulatory compliance and safety, and keep our fleet mission-ready.

About the Role

As Manager – Aviation Maintenance, you will oversee all aspects of aircraft maintenance and repairs. You’ll coordinate schedules, manage a team of technicians and Team Leads, drive quality and airworthiness standards, and partner across departments to minimize downtime while maintaining the highest safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Team Leads and maintenance staff; conduct performance evaluations and support development
• Plan, schedule, and oversee routine inspections, repairs, and overhauls to keep aircraft airworthy and operationally ready
• Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), technical manuals, and company policies
• Maintain accurate documentation, conduct audits/inspections, and drive continuous improvement in quality control and safety protocols
• Advise senior leadership on operating costs (parts, labor, tools) and coordinate with Supply Chain to maintain spare parts inventory
• Communicate aircraft status and maintenance schedules clearly with operations, OCEs, and other stakeholders; collaborate with external vendors as needed
• Investigate and resolve maintenance-related issues promptly

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance Management or a related field
• Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of aviation maintenance experience (military aviation strongly preferred)
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management role
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, maintenance practices, production, and quality control
• Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, in a fast-paced environment
