Job summary

Tanqeeb in the UAE is seeking a Kitchen Maintenance Helper to support our maintenance team in servicing commercial kitchen equipment and keeping restaurant facilities in good repair. You will assist with fryer maintenance, basic plumbing and electrical tasks under a qualified technician, ensuring safety, cleanliness and smooth operations across multiple outlets.

Qualifications

• Basic school education; a vocational or technical course is an advantage.
• Preferably 1–2 years of experience as a maintenance helper, ideally in restaurants, hotels, catering facilities or building maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools, plumbing fittings and general repair activities.
• Exposure to commercial kitchen equipment maintenance is an advantage.
• Ability to understand basic English instructions and communicate maintenance concerns.
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Ability to perform practical maintenance tasks, including standing, bending and safe handling of tools and materials.
• A responsible approach to safety, cleanliness and teamwork.
• Willingness to travel between restaurant outlets and support scheduled maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians with the inspection, servicing and repair of commercial fryers, oil filtration systems, grills, ovens, hot-holding units and other kitchen equipment.
• Prepare tools, spare parts and materials before maintenance work and return them to the designated storage areas after use.
• Assist with equipment dismantling, cleaning and reassembly as instructed by the technician.
• Support fryer maintenance only after equipment has been safely isolated, cooled and drained as required.
• Assist with basic plumbing tasks, including replacing washers, tightening fittings, repairing minor leaks and clearing accessible drainage blockages.
• Assist with electrical maintenance after safe isolation has been confirmed.
• Carry out minor non-electrical repairs to handles, hinges, shelving and restaurant fittings as assigned.
• Support preventive maintenance checks and promptly report leaks, unusual noises, damaged cables or faulty equipment.
• Help move equipment safely using suitable handling methods and assistance where required.
• Keep tools, maintenance stores and work areas clean and organised.
• Protect food preparation areas from dust, debris and maintenance materials.
• Assist with spare-parts stock checks and the collection or delivery of maintenance materials.
• Follow PPE requirements, site safety instructions and restaurant hygiene procedures.
• Support maintenance visits across multiple outlets and work flexible shifts when required.
