A Facilities Manager, maintains and oversees a company’s grounds, buildings and equipment to ensure that a workspace is safe and functional. Their duties include negotiating contracts with service providers, inspecting facilities to meet safety regulations and coordinating renovations and updates.

Facilities Manager duties and responsibilities:

• Delegating cleaning and maintenance tasks to team members.
• Monitoring the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, parking lots and outdoor recreation spaces.
• Performing routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs as needed.
• Scheduling routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors.
• Ensuring proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors or a team of security professionals.
• Maintaining day-to-day operations of facilities, such as delegating or completing maintenance orders.
• Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences for supervisors and other relevant staff.
• Preparing facilities for changing weather conditions.
• Collaborating with building owners and upper management on budgeting for facilities needs.

Skills and qualifications:

• Must have minimum 3 years experience as Facilities Manager.
• Advanced mechanical and plumbing skills.
• Knowledge of HVAC and other building systems.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and do other labor-intensive tasks.
• Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
• Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles.

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in facilities management, preferably within retail or shopping mall environments.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with tenants, vendors, and management.
• Familiarity with local health, safety, and environmental regulations in the UAE.
• Proficient in facilities management software and MS Office applications.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies when required.
