Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Gas Turbine Combustor Engineer to design, analyse and support combustor systems for micro jet engines. You will gather customer requirements and use 1-D modelling and CFD to size and refine combustor components.

You will collaborate with performance, aerodynamics, mechanical design, materials and test teams to ensure clean integration into the full engine, delivering robust, low-emission solutions from concept through verification.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of experience in gas turbine combustion or combustion systems.

Responsibilities

• Define combustor requirements from engine cycle conditions and emissions targets.
• Translate system requirements into combustor concepts and cooling strategies.
• Carry out preliminary sizing and concept development using first-principles methods and correlations.
• Analyse flow, mixing, ignition, flame stability, and temperature distribution to refine design.
• Evaluate design sensitivities to geometry, fuel scheduling, and manufacturing tolerance.
• Develop and review combustor hardware including dome, swirler, liner, dilution holes and igniter location.
• Support CFD, rig testing and engine testing to validate assumptions and update design.
• Iterate design through concept, preliminary, detailed, and verification phases.
• Collaborate with performance, aerodynamics, mechanical design, materials, manufacturing and test teams.
• Document design rationale and verification evidence for technical reviews.
