Job summary

EDGE seeks a Gas Turbine Combustor Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize combustor systems for micro jet engines in a high‑tech UAE environment.

You will translate engine requirements into feasible combustor concepts, perform sizing and CFD validation, and collaborate with performance, aerodynamics, and materials teams to ensure robust, efficient, and emissions‑compliant operation in very small engines.

Qualifications

• Masters's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in gas turbine combustion, combustor design, or propulsion system development.
• Strong background in gas turbine combustor fundamentals including fuel injection, swirl, recombination, flame stabilisation, liner cooling, and turbine inlet temperature management.
• Proven experience in the full combustor design process: concept development, sizing, detailed design, and verification with data.
• Ability to correlate analytical and CFD results with test data and drive design iterations.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles for high-precision hot-section components.

Responsibilities

• Define combustor requirements from engine cycle conditions and emissions targets.
• Translate system requirements into a combustor concept with architecture and cooling philosophy.
• Carry out preliminary sizing and concept development using first-principles methods and correlations.
• Analyse flow, mixing, ignition, flame stability, and temperature distribution to refine the design.
• Evaluate sensitivities to geometry, fuel scheduling, and tolerances to improve robustness.
• Develop and review combustor hardware such as dome, swirler, liner, and cooling features.
• Support CFD, rig testing, and engine testing to validate assumptions and update design.
• Iterate design through concept to verification phases to meet targets.
• Collaborate with performance, aerodynamics, mechanical design, and materials teams to ensure full integration.
• Document design rationale and verification evidence for technical reviews.
