Job summary

EDGE is seeking a Gas Turbine Combustor Engineer to design, analyse and support combustor systems for micro jet engines. You will gather requirements, apply first-principles sizing and high-fidelity CFD to achieve stable combustion, high efficiency and low emissions in compact engines.

Collaboration across engineering teams and rigorous design verification are required. The role involves communicating design rationale, reviewing test results, and delivering fit-for-purpose combustor solutions

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of gas turbine combustor fundamentals: fuel injection, swirl, flame stabilisation.
• Experience across concept to verification through analysis and testing.
• Strong communication of technical results and risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Define combustor requirements from engine cycle conditions and emissions targets.
• Translate system requirements into combustor concepts and cooling philosophy.
• Carry out sizing and concept development using first principles and correlations.
• Analyse flow, ignition, flame stability, and temperature distribution to refine design.
• Support CFD, rig and engine testing to validate assumptions and update design.
