JOB TITLE: LEAD – COMMERCIAL
This role is based in Sharjah.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead commercial and contractual activities from pre-qualification and bidding through contract award and post-award delivery.
- Lead the review, qualification and negotiation of client contracts, ensuring material risks are identified, mitigated, approved and clearly documented.
- Lead and coordinate bid governance, commercial strategy and risk reviews, coordinating inputs from Legal, Compliance, Tax, Insurance, Finance, operational stakeholders and third party experts.
- Ensure client obligations are appropriately flowed down to partners, vendors and subcontractors, including during bid-stage commitments and award.
- Lead claims, variations, amendments and contractual notices, and manage disputes in conjunction with Legal, the Business and supporting functions.
- Manage contract performance and administration such as securities, insurances, warranties, KPIs and reporting.
- Lead the negotiation of partnering and ancillary agreements, including MOUs, NDAs, LOIs, novations, exclusivity arrangements and joint venture or consortium agreements.
- Support the commercial aspects of regional entities, entity set up or contracting structures for opportunities in coordination with Legal, Company Secretariat, Tax, Finance and Compliance.
- Oversee contract handover, post-award risk and opportunity management, commercial controls, audits, KPIs and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the Commercial team has appropriate capacity, capability, accountabilities and authority levels, and provide leadership, coaching and performance support to junior members of staff.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Degree or equivalent demonstrated experience in Law, Commerce, Quantity Surveying, Business or a related discipline. A legal background or strong practical experience with contractual terms is desirable.
- Extensive commercial or contracts experience within energy, oil and gas, engineering, construction or industrial services, including team leadership. Proven experience leading client negotiations, risk reviews, claims, disputes, flow-down strategies and complex commercial agreements.
- Experience across both pre-award and post-award activities, including governance, approvals, contract handovers and commercial performance management.
- Experience in operations and maintenance, brownfield or greenfield projects, wells or engineering scopes is desirable.
- MENA experience is desirable, including exposure to cross-border contracting, partnerships or entity structures.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, drafting, commercial judgement and senior stakeholder management skills.
