Job summary

Timber is seeking a PMC Principal Civil Designer in Dubai to lead a project group of Engineers, Designers and Draftsmen. The role requires extensive oil and gas experience, PMC exposure, and decisive leadership to ensure quality, schedule and budget adherence.

You will drive design development, coordinate with head of department and clients, and oversee tender preparation, pricing, and change orders while advancing sustainable engineering practices in a multinational setting.

Qualifications

• Certified Civil/ Architectural Engineer holding a Bachelor's level as a minimum
• 15+ years of relevant experience in the oil & gas market
• Minimum of 6 years experience in similar function in Operating Company
• PMC experience called for
• Knowledge of market techniques, codes and standards for civil/structural design
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Creation of tender files
• Hands on experience with key software (STAAD Pro, SAP, MAT 3D, Structure 3D, NavisWorks, MS Office)
• Experience evaluating deliverables from Civil/Structural groups or other offices
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Client-oriented, adaptable and proactive
• Solid engineering capability and leadership skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a project group including engineers, draftsmen and designers
• Ensure design work meets budget, schedule and quality targets
• Ensure compliance with quality system and company procedures
• Maintain effective communication across all teams and stakeholders
• Monitor performance, forecast risks and resolve issues with management
• Act as principal designer and mentor less experienced colleagues
• Support staffing and assignment of personnel to tasks
• Prepare tender documents and man-hour estimates
• Identify sustainable and efficient design options
• Keep up with codes, standards and new developments and report findings
• Collaborate with subcontractors, contractors and clients for clear requirements and information sharing
• Prepare man-hour estimates and documentation for proposals and change orders
