Overview

In a luxury hotel environment, the Laundry Attendant supports guest comfort, housekeeping readiness, hygiene quality, and the smooth movement of clean linen across the property. The role involves operating washing, drying, and dry‑cleaning machinery; checking stained or damaged items; folding articles to required standards; and keeping laundry records accurate.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor washing machines, dryers, dry‑cleaning equipment, and related laundry machinery.
• Add approved laundry chemicals and follow correct handling procedures during washing and cleaning cycles.
• Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabric type, load size, and laundry requirements.
• Identify stained, damaged, or unsuitable items and determine whether they need repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.
• Inspect items removed from washers, dryers, or dry‑cleaning machines to confirm cleanliness and quality.
• Place cleaned articles into clean linen carts while keeping items organized and protected from contamination.
• Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry‑cleaning filters, and drain traps after each load.
• Fold cleaned articles to designated sizes by hand or by using folding equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of laundered items, completed loads, rejected items, and operational activity.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify defects, damage, or maintenance concerns.
• Follow all company safety, security, laundry handling, hygiene, and operating procedures during each shift.
• Report accidents, injuries, unsafe work conditions, equipment faults, or maintenance needs to the manager.
• Maintain a clean uniform, professional appearance, confidentiality, and responsible care of company assets.
• Support colleagues, communicate respectfully, and contribute to shared laundry and housekeeping goals.
• Recommend practical improvements that may support efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, or cost control.
• Stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, pull, stoop, reach, lift, carry, push, and move laundry items during daily operations.
• Move objects weighing up to 25pounds without assistance when required.
• Work safely in narrow, confined, elevated, sloping, uneven, or slippery areas, including stairs and service ramps when needed.
• Complete additional reasonable duties requested by supervisors to support laundry operations and hotel service standards.

Ideal Profile

• No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• No previous laundry, dry‑cleaning, hotel, or housekeeping experience is required.
• No supervisory experience is required.
• No license or certification is required.
• Willing to learn hotel laundry standards, machine operation, linen handling, and quality checking procedures.
• Comfortable working in a full‑time, non‑management role within a luxury hotel environment.
• Able to follow instructions, safety rules, hygiene standards, and company procedures consistently.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, fabric condition, folding standards, and item handling.
• Physically able to remain active during full shifts and perform lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, and walking tasks.
