Job summary

Manufacturing Plant - UAE - Abu Dhabi is seeking a Lathe Operator to set up, program, and operate manual and CNC lathes to produce precision metal and plastic parts in line with blueprints.

You will interpret drawings, load CNC programs, monitor machining parameters, perform quality inspections, and participate in troubleshooting and preventive maintenance while upholding HSE standards and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience operating manual and CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
• Technical diploma in machining or equivalent certification.
• Strong measurement and blueprint reading skills.

Responsibilities

• HSE Compliance
• Machine Setup & Programming: Interpret drawings, select fixtures/tools, set speeds/feeds, load CNC programs or dial in manual lathe settings.
• Machining Operations: Run production lots on manual and CNC lathes, monitor and adjust parameters to maintain tolerances.
• Quality Inspection: Measure parts with calipers/micrometers to verify tolerances and finish.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose issues, perform preventive maintenance, coordinate repairs.
• Mentoring & Collaboration: Train Lathe Operator I staff on setup, tooling, and safety.
• Documentation: Record data and downtime in ERP for reporting and continuous improvement.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE: To set up, program, and operate manual and CNC lathe machines to manufacture precision metal and plastic parts, performing first-level troubleshooting and quality inspections to meet blueprint specifications and production targets.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• HSE Compliance
• Machine Setup & Programming : Interpret engineering drawings to select fixtures, cutting tools, machine speeds, and feeds, and load CNC programs or dial in manual lathe settings for each job
• Machining Operations: Independently run production lots on manual and CNC lathes, monitoring machining parameters and adjusting as needed to maintain part tolerances
• Quality Inspection: Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify compliance with dimensional tolerances and surface-finish requirements
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose common machining issues (e.g., chatter, tool wear), perform routine preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication), and coordinate repairs with maintenance teams
• Mentoring & Collaboration: Assist in training Lathe Operator I staff on machine setup, tooling changes, and safety protocols; communicate production issues and feedback to supervisors
• Documentation: Record production data, machine downtime, and scrap rates in the ERP system to support operational reporting and continuous improvement.

External: Tool and spare-parts suppliers
