The role will oversee landscape works on large‑scale projects while ensuring contractor submissions, materials, installations, and site activities comply with approved designs, authority standards, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate landscape design activities with clients, consultants, designers, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Resolve site issues affecting hard landscaping, soft landscaping, planting layouts, irrigation networks, and external works.
- Develop landscape proposals that reflect client requirements, project objectives, site conditions, and approved design concepts.
- Review contractor submissions against drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and contract documents.
- Assess shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, technical proposals, samples, and landscape installation details.
- Recommend approval, revision, or rejection of submissions based on contractual and technical compliance.
- Review contractor and subcontractor prequalification documents and advise the client on technical suitability.
- Conduct site inspections to verify that landscape and irrigation works are executed to approved standards.
- Monitor workmanship, planting quality, soil preparation, grading, drainage, paving, edging, and hardscape installation.
- Inspect irrigation pipes, valves, controllers, emitters, sprinklers, and associated equipment before testing and acceptance.
- Confirm that irrigation systems provide suitable coverage and water distribution for each plantation type.
- Select and inspect trees, shrubs, ground cover, and other plants from nurseries or external suppliers before shipment.
- Verify plant health, size, root condition, species, quantity, and compliance with approved schedules.
- Apply detailed knowledge of regional plant species, climatic suitability, water demand, maintenance needs, and growth characteristics.
- Review computer‑aided design drawings and engineering information using CAD or related applications.
- Coordinate landscape interfaces with civil works, utilities, drainage, roads, structures, lighting, and architectural elements.
- Identify discrepancies between approved designs and actual site conditions and recommend practical solutions.
- Maintain inspection records, technical comments, site observations, approval logs, photographs, and correspondence.
- Monitor corrective actions and confirm that rejected or defective work is properly rectified.
- Provide functional guidance to site personnel and contractors when clarification is required.
- Ensure landscape construction activities follow health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
- Verify compliance with local authority regulations, international standards, project specifications, and statutory obligations.
- Support testing, commissioning, handover, and defect inspection activities for landscape and irrigation systems.
- Perform other technical and supervisory responsibilities related to the assigned project scope.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in landscape and irrigation design or construction supervision.
- Strong experience delivering large‑scale landscape projects.
- Previous landscape engineering experience in the UAE is preferred.
- Proven capability to manage contractors, technical submissions, inspections, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Detailed understanding of hardscape construction, softscape installation, planting, and irrigation systems.
- Extensive knowledge of plant species suitable for the UAE and wider regional climate.
- Familiarity with nursery inspection, plant sourcing, soil requirements, and landscape maintenance considerations.
- Ability to interpret landscape drawings, specifications, schedules, CAD files, and contract documents.
- Working knowledge of local authority standards and statutory requirements affecting landscape projects.
- Understanding of construction health, safety, environmental protection, and sustainability practices.
- Ability to review shop drawings, material proposals, method statements, and contractor qualifications.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Effective leadership, coordination, reporting, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proven ability to operate in a management or senior supervision capacity.
