The position requires strong knowledge of regional plant species, irrigation systems, technical submissions, site inspections, authority requirements, and landscape construction standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop irrigation and landscape proposals in coordination with client requirements and project design teams.
- Review landscape and irrigation designs for technical suitability, constructability, maintainability, and contractual compliance.
- Coordinate hard landscaping, soft landscaping, planting, irrigation, civil, architectural, and utility interfaces.
- Review contractor shop drawings, technical submittals, material proposals, method statements, and supporting documentation.
- Confirm that contractor submissions comply with approved designs, specifications, authority requirements, and project standards.
- Evaluate contractor and subcontractor prequalification submissions and provide recommendations to the client.
- Conduct site inspections to verify that irrigation and landscape works are completed according to approved drawings and accepted practices.
- Inspect irrigation pipelines, control valves, pumps, filters, controllers, sprinklers, drip systems, and associated equipment.
- Monitor trenching, pipe installation, pressure testing, flushing, commissioning, and reinstatement activities.
- Review irrigation zoning, hydraulic requirements, water demand, operating pressures, flow rates, and system coverage.
- Coordinate irrigation connections with treated sewage effluent networks, water sources, pumping systems, and utility infrastructure.
- Assess plant and tree species for suitability to regional climate, soil conditions, water availability, and landscape objectives.
- Inspect and approve plants and trees at nurseries or external sources before shipment to the project site.
- Verify plant health, size, root condition, species, quantities, and compliance with approved schedules.
- Monitor soil preparation, planting pits, staking, mulching, fertilization, and establishment procedures.
- Resolve technical issues involving hardscape levels, planting areas, irrigation coverage, drainage, utilities, and structural interfaces.
- Provide field engineering support by applying established engineering principles, calculations, and construction practices.
- Use computer-aided engineering and computer-aided design applications when required for technical review and coordination.
- Liaise with designers, contractors, consultants, authorities, suppliers, and client representatives.
- Record inspection findings, technical observations, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
- Support testing, commissioning, snagging, plant establishment, and final handover activities.
- Confirm that as-built drawings, operation manuals, warranties, test records, and maintenance information are complete.
- Provide functional guidance to site personnel and technical teams when necessary.
- Ensure all landscape and irrigation activities comply with project quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in irrigation and landscape design, construction supervision, or field engineering.
- Previous experience delivering large-scale landscape and irrigation projects.
- Strong UAE experience is preferred, particularly on major infrastructure, urban development, hospitality, public realm, or community projects.
- Detailed knowledge of irrigation systems used for trees, shrubs, groundcover, lawns, and other plantation types.
- Practical understanding of drip irrigation, sprinkler systems, irrigation controllers, valves, pumps, filtration equipment, and water distribution networks.
- Thorough knowledge of plant and tree species commonly used in the United Arab Emirates.
- Ability to evaluate regional planting requirements, water demand, soil conditions, and climate suitability.
- Experience reviewing landscape shop drawings, irrigation calculations, material submittals, and contractor proposals.
- Familiarity with international standards, local authority requirements, statutory regulations, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of engineering and construction processes related to landscape development.
- Ability to identify design conflicts and resolve technical issues arising during construction.
- Competence in reviewing contractor and subcontractor qualifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to prepare technical comments, inspection records, correspondence, and progress information.
- Confidence working with multidisciplinary consultants, contractors, suppliers, and client teams.
- Working knowledge of computer-aided design, engineering software, and standard office applications.
