Job summary

Confidential is seeking a hardworking Kitchen Steward to join our hotel kitchen team. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, washing and sanitizing equipment, and supporting the culinary team with efficient stewarding operations.

The ideal candidate will have basic kitchen hygiene knowledge, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and contribute to a safe, organized kitchen. Shifts including weekends/Public holidays may apply in a hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Kitchen Steward or in a similar role preferred.
• Prior hotel or hospitality experience is an advantage.
• Knowledge of basic kitchen hygiene and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Good teamwork and punctual, reliable work ethic.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Strong personal hygiene and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen, back-of-house and stewarding areas.
• Operate dishwashing machines and other cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
• Ensure all crockery, cutlery, utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and stored.
• Assist chefs and kitchen colleagues with the cleaning and organization of work areas.
• Collect and dispose of kitchen waste according to hotel procedures.
• Maintain garbage areas in a clean and hygienic condition.
• Clean floors, walls, drains, sinks, refrigerators and other designated areas.
• Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and report shortages to the Stewarding Supervisor.
• Assist with receiving, storing and organizing kitchen equipment and supplies when required.
• Ensure breakages and damaged equipment are reported promptly.
• Follow hotel food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards.
• Support deep-cleaning activities and scheduled sanitation programs.
• Assist with maintaining clean and organized storage areas.
• Follow proper waste segregation and recycling procedures.
• Respond promptly to requests from the kitchen and Food & Beverage departments.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Steward or Stewarding Supervisor.
