About the Role

The KG Homeroom Teacher will take responsibility for the learning, progress, behaviour, and well-being of a kindergarten class at Virginia American School. The role requires effective curriculum planning, engaging classroom delivery, assessment, parent communication, and collaboration with support professionals where required. The successful candidate will also contribute to the wider school community through curriculum groups, extracurricular activities, school events, and pastoral support.

• Liaise with colleagues and work flexibly to support student learning.
• Work closely with parents to support children 's happiness, development, and academic outcomes.
• Cooperate with curriculum support staff where applicable to support children 's development.

Teaching and Learning

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum.
• Organize classroom provision, learning resources, and displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Plan, prepare, and present learning sessions that cater to the full ability range within the class.
• Motivate pupils through enthusiastic and imaginative teaching.
• Observe and assess children in accordance with school assessment procedures.
• Reflect on classroom provision, lessons delivered, and student progress.
• Adjust the learning environment, planning, and curriculum in response to student development and learning needs.
• Meet with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other professionals where required.
• Embed the Virginia American School Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout the curriculum.

Assessment and Data

• Take responsibility for the progress of the assigned class.
• Meet requirements for assessing and recording student development using Target Tracker.
• Use assessment data to inform future planning, provision, and intervention.
• Monitor student progress and adapt teaching where necessary.
• Provide parents and carers with feedback regarding student development during Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.

Behaviour Management and Duties

• Follow the school 's behaviour policy.
• Manage the class effectively using approaches appropriate to students ' needs.
• Inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils while maintaining a positive learning environment.
