Job summary

Sunset Hospitality Group’s ISOLA Abu Dhabi is looking for a hands-on Junior Sous Chef to join the opening team in a busy Italian restaurant. You will support the Head Chef, supervise sections and ensure mise en place, quality and service readiness, while collaborating with other sections to deliver authentic Italian dishes.

Experience in Italian restaurants and pre-opening settings is highly valued, as is strong organization and team leadership in a UAE/GCC context.

Qualifications

• Experience as Junior Sous Chef or Chef de Partie with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong experience in Italian restaurants or Italian à la carte kitchens.
• Knowledge of pasta, risotto, Italian sauces, and meat/seafood prep.
• Experience in a busy restaurant with consistent quality.
• Excellent organisation, communication and team supervision skills.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations.
• Supervise assigned sections, ensuring mise en place and service readiness.
• Prepare and oversee Italian dishes according to approved recipes, presentation and quality standards.
• Coordinate with other sections to ensure smooth and timely service.
• Train and guide junior chefs in cooking techniques, food preparation and kitchen procedures.

• Maintain food safety, hygiene and storage standards.
• Support pre-opening preparations, including kitchen setup, recipe trials and team training.

Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie with supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong experience in Italian restaurants or dedicated Italian à la carte kitchens is essential.
• Practical knowledge of pasta, risotto, Italian sauces, and meat and seafood preparation.
• Experience working in a busy restaurant while maintaining consistent quality.
• Strong organisation, communication and team supervision skills.
• UAE or GCC restaurant experience is an advantage.
• Pre-opening experience is preferred.
